So it ate a couple of wires? Cry me a river. My car's entire headlight circuit melted due to a short one night and I rewired the whole thing at the side of the road with a spool of lamp cord, a box of spade-terminals, and a pair of needle-nose pliers. You can fix it.

Be sure to use the same gauge wire, engine sensors are usually sensitive to resistance.
