  • thnx again, OIU doing good this year i see

  • Genius! Well...really clever!

  • sure would of been nice to see a link to go buy this thing.

  • Iam just starting with wood working I really like your stuff, easy to understand and very usefull. thank-you

  • Thanks for your review. I went out and purchased & it worked great. Although your video on using a traditional stud finder provided enough information to find the stud accurately, this tool provided confirmation before I began drilling. Thanks.

  • excellent, simple and easy

  • love it

  • Great stuff. love your quality videos. 5 stars

  • Just ordered it on Amazon ! cant wait to use it !

  • I just used it. its awesome !

Makes me want to throw my $80. piece of junk Zircon stud finder in the trash !

  • Hate throwing tools away! Never know what else you may be able to use it for.Just the way my mind thinks. Thanks for watching.+++Bob

  • You're right Bob, I am running kinda low on discs for skeet shooting.

  • great product, excellent demo and thanks for sharing.

  • Hi Todd, WARNING! This tool is designed to work with DRYWALL not plaster. If the side jobs you do are plaster it may not work for you +++Bob

  • Thanks, this is amazingly simple and logical... not sure where I can find it here in Vancouver, BC though.

  • Thanks Bob, Here in Ireland most homes are the same as the UK , they have concrete or brick internal walls, except for new apartments which have stud walls the only difference been that we generally plaster over the whole wall and not just the joints so I dont really know if it would be capable attaching to screws underneath a layer of plaster.

  • What about electrical wires, would the magnets be attracted to them ?

  • I tried everything I could do and could not get a false reading whether the electric line was live or off+++Bob In short no.

  • Great Invention!

  • Neodymnium Iron Boron or Sumerian Cobalt Magnets are Downright amazing. They even make special "high heat" versions that don't loose their pull in internal engine applications. Thank you for another 5 star video.

  • Thanks for the interesting additional info!+++Bob

  • Simple and effective! Although over here in the UK we don't tend to have too many studded walls and are of brick construction. Still a great tool to have.

  • Do they plaster right on the block? What about insulation? Thanks +++Bob

  • We generally have a 9" outer wall and a single skin for most indoor partitions. Newer homes are built with blocks and the outer skin is made up of a single skin of bricks and tied into the blocks. The cavity is filled with cavity insulation.

  • "And one more thing!" as the Saturday morning cartoon character Jackie Chan's grandfather would always say. Looking at other sources for the Magic Stud Finder I see that Amazon has that, as well as a lower cost alternative, the Hanson STUD4SURE Magnetic Stud Finder for $11, and it has the benefit of no moving (losable) parts. 4.5 star rating out of 57 reviews. Sounds good.

  • In answer to my question, I guess a good stock answer to any question these days is, "Google it." The Magic Stud Finder site show the locator at $17, and you can get just a set of four target magnets for $11. Presumably one could even use the target magnets in hand without the holder/finder body. Shipping is $6.

  • This looks perfect for me. We're doing ICF walls in our soon to start new house. I'm not sure if traditional stud finders will work with the plastic "stud" strips, but this should do the job.

How about price and source info?

    Thanks!

  • What does ICF stand for? Thanks +++Bob

  • ICF = Insulated Concrete Forms. It is a sandwich of 2.5-inch rigid foam forms, with an inner filling of concrete and rebar. Makes for a high performance system with good R-value, air tightness, strength, and quietness.

The "studs" are generally 1.5-inch wide strips of high density plastic (mostly) or steel, and they are buried 0.5-inch below the surface of the block. They are for screwing in to attach exterior or interior cladding.

  • Is this the system that is HURRICANE PROOF?+++Bob

  • Hurricane-proof (or at least HIGHLY resistant) for the coastal residents, or tornado-"proof" for other parts of the country.

Also dead quiet and highly energy efficient.

  • I have read some thing about this type of construction, very interesting and shows alot of promise long term! Good choice!+++Bob

  • very ingenious!!

  • wow, thats a cool product
