  • Dominique looks to the right before changing lanes. That's what I like about him.

  • This was the shit! NBA Superstars was so awesome, I remember watching these as a kid.

  • one of the greatest random intros ever. I never understood why they showed him going to the stadium and walking onto the floor, but i just understand that i love it.

  • oh my god thank you for this, brings back some good memories

  • never would i stand under the rim with nique on the break coming towards me

  • this guy dunks like a monster jam..

  • unerrated player, better than kobe or le bron

  • I AM SO GLAD TO FIND THIS!!!

I'M 40, AND I AM HERE TO SAY THAT THIS TIME PERIOD AS FEATURED WAS WHEN THE NBA HAD "REAL" SUPERSTARS!!!

WILKINS, JORDAN, PIPPIN, AND MORE THAN I CAN EVEN MENTION HERE!!

THIS was the REAL NBA....and GOD, HOW I MISS THESE GUYS!!

    ESPECIALLY WILKINS...."THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT"!!!!!

  • miss the days when all stars cared and didnt give up cause they felt the team around him wasnt strong enough. Give me late 1980s Dominique over Lebron anyday of the week

  • Seeing him in Clipper gear still makes my blood boil. But then again, it wouldn't be the Hawks if they didn't do something stupid; Marvin Williams for CP3 ring a bell?

We go from watching Nique throw down tomahawk dunks to watching Joe Johnson try to go 1-on-5 twenty feet from the basket. And they wonder why so many folks stay away from the arena?

  • A Better basketball player than Lebron James, no doubt about it. Dominique had better offensive skills, more Heart and he also had incredible athleticism. Sadly, he played in a era where he did not have enough good players to compete with the elite. Hands down he deserve to be in 92 Dream Team...........

  • He deserves to be on the 1992 Dream Team instead of Chris Mullin

  • This was the best video on the VHS (song and dunks) MJ was a close second! Nique!!!

  • Pjhuntertj , exactly!

  • Arodz21, u obviously didn't grow up in the 80's.

  • Dominate, Wilkins.

  • Every chance i could this VHS was in the VCR. Miss my childhood

  • How does a man his size move so like that?

  • Blake Grif who?!?!?!? Nique is the original hard dunker!! Sports Illustarted Superstars '87, whaaaaaaaattttttt!!!!!!!

  • Its crazy how this guy could just treat the middle of a regular season or playoff game like the dunk contest.

  • This is probably the best nba highlight video ever. Perfect music and Dominique is still one of the best dunkers of all time. The dunk at 1:58 is amazing.

  • I used to watch this before going outside to play basketball!

  • people remember Nique as a high flyer and dunker...but he really was a great all around scorer and player. Underrated in my mind

  • I don't know who put this video together, but they shit all over 'Nique here. You don't get an actual highlight until 1:40 into the song. And then set his highlights to elevator music?

  • @arodz21 This came out in the 80's , the song selection was to set the tone of the highlights.

  • @arodz21

LOL great point. I have no clue why they have him driving to the Omni. They could have easily filled that waste of time with a minute of dunks.

  • this so beats those other so called highlight tapes... The key is the music fits...

    It's not some gangsta crap.

  • Homeboy did a pump reverse dunk on a pressure fast break @ 2:45 . Thumbs up if you're impressed by that.

Nice song too. Whoever put this together made me like Yanni and definitely like 'Nique a LOT more.

  • ask any HOF player, who the most underrated player is, THEY ALL say Nique!

  • @carlosZ1981 Most definitely!!!! When it comes to Nique, a LOT of people don't know what the hell they're talking about. Barkley, Bird, Danny Ainge and Dr J all have commented how he got snubbed for the 50 greatest players amongst other things.

  • This guy was Michael Jordan without an outside shot. He had the same lift and more power. He just didn't have the ability to makebig shots that weren't dunks like MJ did.

  • @BeantownDungplop ...........he had to compete with alot of dynasties back then, bird and the celtics, isiah and the bad boys, Air jordan and the bulls. i remember Nique dropping 47 pts in game 7 of the conf. finals but still couldn't beat bird and the celtics. he was making them that night, his hawk teams just couldn't get it done.

  • @carlosZ1981 Yep!

  • Dominique was a good player. I heard he once dunked a basketball with 2 hands.

  • sculptor with a chisel vs painter with a brush.....wilkins vs jordan damn this brings back memories

  • miralles10 amazing, just what else is there to say?. Everyone considers themselves a basketball fan all learn the right way to dunk, I simply just recently finished the exercise system over at (50 inch vertical [dot] com) - it's the best program available (Guess what, I'm merely 5'7!)

    Dominique Wilkins NBA Superstars

  • Mi favorite all time player and video - I also use to had that VHS. For me Dominique was one of the best in those 80's that had fantastic teams, he took the hawks to the highest level unfortunately the pistons and the celtics had better teams, and by the way the NBA made a mistake not to include him on the 50 best players

  • If dominique would have played for detroit back then he'd and Isiah would have had at least five championships he even said he wish he could have played with him

  • wilkins, awesome, yanni, awesome as well, like swept away

  • I love the music that goes to this ... long live Yanni!

  • Nique is lie the barry sanders of the nba...he had to create with no supporting cast.

  • @Kendre he had a supporting Cast Spud Webb John Koncak Doc Rivers Moses Malone

  • Whatt????? Contendersss??? Dominique made them a respectable team and to be fair about it he never had the supporting cast, but yes, he was a great player.

  • " The Human Highlight Film".

Dominque Wilkins took the Atlanta Hawks on his back & made them contenders.

  • legend...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS MAN IS A LEGEND

  • This reminds me of my childhood. My brother & I used to watch this EVERY DAY. I still have the VHS.

  • YOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • @leeshalee .......i wore this tape out!, i still got mine too ;)

  • @leeshalee I used to watch this all the time too, I love some of the songs on this tape.

  • @leeshalee same here, we would watch it every day; had the second volume too

  • @leeshalee same here, we would watch it every day; still have both volumes on vhs

  • @leeshalee yeah I used to watch the vhs before playing the ball game, it gave me the feeling how to jump higher. Then a year later I was able to dunk the ball.................boom shakalaka.....

  • @leeshalee I Still Have Mine Also LOL . Great Times Growing Up for Me aswell Dreaming of Dunking and Scoring like My Hero The Human HighLight Film Dominique Wilkins .

  • yeah, he finally made it

  • nique's in the Hall Of Fame right?

the 80's NBA the golden age...

  • This dude was a DAMN BEAST!!!! man I loved watching him as a kid.

  • his nephew plays here.

  • So VERY underated! A crime he's not on the top 50! Also a crime he lost the dunk contest to Jordan in chicago. Come on...what was better than that two handed windmill!!!! Not my fav player, but my fav dunker by far!

  • SO TRUE

  • WOW!! you took the words right out of my mouth...

  • @Cardigans5 I Agree 100 Percent . Member of Dream Team One but Never got to Play Because of Injury Chris Mullin's took his place , Would have Broke 8 straight Seasons with 2 Thousand Points in a season a NBA Record that Karl Malone took from him eventualy . 9 time All-Star that should have Been 10 the ankle Injury again Kevin Willis took his Spot that All-Star Game . But Came back from it and Increased his Assist and Scoring which was Amazing . Not a Top 50 a RIP OFF but a TOP 25 For Sure..

  • MINE TOO!

i watched this vhs everyday growing up.

  • hahah me too, my dad got this vhs and my brother and i watched it at least once a week and before every basketball game we played in

  • he was alway my favorit player of all time

  • 1:45 was sick bruh

  • please nba, tell me how he is not one of the 50 greatest players of all time. as for the hawks, they screwed him big time. trade a guy that was your franchise and the only reason people bought tickets and then you trade him on a contract year to the sorriest team in nba history.

  • Agree. What made that trade more worse is, they had a good season record and were well on their way to finals and possible championship. I wasn't happy about that at all.

  • Note Doc rivers and Spub Webb are in this video as well.

  • SUPERMAN IS IN THE BUILDING !!!!!

  • When they put it in slow motion you can see how talented these people actually ar eI sure as Hell couldn't that stuff lol..

  • Wilkins in his pride and Lebron james in a slam dunk contest.now thats a dream match

  • It's a shame he never won a title. He was my favorite player. I quit cheering on the Hawks when they traded him to LA. Bad Choice!!!!

  • 1:43 is SSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!

  • 2:48.

    SSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!

  • he was before it time he was grimmy on the court!!!!!ONE OF THE BEST

  • my best superstar ever than anyone in those times

  • i remember seein' him play when i was 10, i couldn't believe how good he was

  • This guy deserves to be on the 1992 Dream Team AND the NBA's 50 Greatest Players List. No doubt about it.

  • He and Isiah should had been in that team and not Leatnner & Stockton.

  • @MrBasketball83 Not Stockton? don't make me laugh.

  • @greatland2 couple things 1st as good as Stockton was he made that club cause Jordan didnt want Isiah on that team. AT THAT TIME Isiam as a 2 time champion, 12 time all star, and finals mvp almost every season and Stockton was a 4 time all star. If I remember correctly I think that season Nique got hurt midseason and missed the remainder of the 91-92 season

  • @arvinserra that is so true

  • @arvinserra AMEN.

  • @arvinserra word i felt he was better than christian laetner and did deserve his spot on the dream team.

  • jacques "dominique" wilkins is the most underated superstar to ever play the game.

  • I agree

  • Atlanta Hawks one of the two worst managed teams in the NBA. The Clippers being the other. Its ashame that Wilkins wasn't in the Top 50 of all time. This guy was clearly ahead of his time. I'm still in shock why they traded him to the Clippers for Danny Manning who only lasted barely a season here. Wilkins put Atlanta on the map. The Hawks have been a joke since.

  • 'Nique was awesome, but the management wanted to change up the roster. That team was famously summed up with the saying that they'd rather pass kidney stones than the ball.

  • Nique wreckin the place,i love it!!

  • yanni only enhances "'nique" here....

  • song name, please

  • It's by Yanni. He plays an instrument.

  • Looking Glass by Yanni

  • love the old shots of The Omni!!

  • still makes me sick to my stomach that the hawks traded him for danny manning sick to my stomach

  • i remember the first time i watched this and saw the music all the other players got and then saw niques and was thinkin "wow he got ripped off with some lame ass slow song". then the video continued and i saw how awesome it actually was. for being not too "in your face" type it actually exudes alot of energy and fits really well. very nostalgic, still gives me goosebumps

  • The Yanni music choice makes you step back and ask why, but then you see how cool Dominique's highlights play to the intro and when the drum beats kick in with his first dunk, it's tight all of the way through.

  • Who is a moron, bobs?

  • hmm, i dont even remember.

    heh.

  • I always thought that basketball was created by Naismith in NC...

  • but you are nothing...so you have nothing to be proud of because you are nothing

  • yeah thats why we created basketball search it up buddy.

  • moron

  • Who is a maoron ?

  • este video es super vien elaborado me da gusto volver a ver a los juegadores magicos de esa epoca hasta me emosiona

  • Yanni bitches!

No but seriously I had this thing on VHS since I was a little kid, and they don't make em the same way is all I'll say.

  • LOL i remember beggin my mom to order a sports illustrated subscription just to get this tape...

  • best bball video ever!

  • This is like the greatest beginning of any video, and i mean ANY video.

  • Nique hated to pass the ball

  • Classic video driving into OMNI Arena, I have this on VHS I used to watch it all the time, then go dunk on my elevator basketball net

  • If I was Nique, I wouldn't either. Who was he going to pass it to anyway? Kevin Willis? Doc Rivers? Jon 'effin Koncak?

And folks wonder why he couldn't win a ring? Bird, MJ, and Magic couldn't have won with the squad Nique was surrounded with...

  • U forgot Tree Rollins, Randy Wittman, John Battle, and Antoine Carr:)

  • and stacey augmon

  • The Omni was such a piece of shit. So ugly.

  • WOW!

I HAD IT ON VHS ALSO.

    I REMEMBER AlL OF THESE.

I WATCHED IT SO MANY TIMES WITH MY FATHER

  • goosebumps...i can't even hear this song without playin this clip scene for scene in my head

  • I miss everything in the 80's, especially the bball.

  • i had this vhs too! the vids that would pump me up was this Nique one and Charles Barkley. THis song's tight! i love how the beat is timed with his dunks

  • Agreed Nique bringed to the nba the new prototipe of dunker ahead to his time spectacular, I mmiss old times

  • nique never played with any talent he would of a ring if the hawks had surrounded him with better players

  • A 4 MINUTE VHS?

  • No NBA Superstars was a compilation VHS to the NBA Superstars from 1987 or 1988

  • rather draft david robinson or this guy?

  • Dang! I'm gonna have to pull out this tape now! I never listened to Yanni, but I damn sure know this song from Superstars!

  • Gives me the chills still.

  • Me too. Look at the Omni crowd and the enthusiasm. Quite a contrast to the joke of a team they are today. Sigh, going to a Hawks game at the old Omni used to MEAN something back then. They were one of the top contenders in the East instead of the laughingstock of the league like they are right now.

  • Man... Nique made Yanni sound hard lol

  • I absolutely love Dominique Wilkins. I had this VHS tape when I was 12 yrs old. Someone broke it. I'm 28 now and I'm dying for this tape again. Anyone know where I could possibly get this?

  • Haha! I am in the same group as you. The NBA reissued these onto DVD a couple years ago. If he wasn't stuck on a team with lumps of shit like Tree Rollins, Randy Wittman, Jon Koncak, Alexander Volkov, John Battle, and pretty much every player Ted Turner got between 83-93 excluding Doc Rivers or Kevin Willis he would be regarded as one of the greatest that still gets recognition.

  • I agree. Don't blame Ted Turner, blame that on Stan Kasten, who never surrounded him with enough talent in a loaded East and GM Pete Babcock, who sold him down the river for a guy who didn't want to play here. What a shame.

  • Agreed. Im in Chicago, so I miss the old Nique-MJ rivalry when they were both one man teams! I'll take those games and dunk contests any day over Lebron and Wade. Theirs a little bias since I was a child back then but hey who gives a fuck! lol

  • I still own this tape!

    Go me!

  • Take a look at how long his arms are. He's still the greatest flying man in my book.

  • whats the name of song? please

  • it says the name in the begining of the clip.

  • The song is called Looking Glass and it's from the Greek composer Yiannis Chrisomalis (a.k.a. Yianni)

  • @tiololas "looking glass" by Yanni, yes Yanni.

  • He's one of my top 3 favorite players ever!!! Always nice to watch that Highlight for the millionth time

  • this is the best nba movie ever

  • AWESOME!

  • oh man i miss having this VHS tape!!!
