Thanks for uploading. The story goes that in Etta's early R&B days in her teens when she was supporting Little Richard and into the sixities recording for chess Records her producer would barge into the recording booth at the studio and squeeze her for all he was worth (and possibly for all she was worth, as well). Following a period of junkiedom she made a comeback (at the ripe old age of 34) with Come A Little Closer. As this track illustrates her work from this period is timeless.
The very first time I heard this song I was stationed at Fort Ord, California. A very good freind and fellow G.I. who was very much a musicologist to me was from Baltimore named Lawrence Gee. He played this album and I was instantly hooked. Etta James not only rocks her standard "At Last" but shows that she had versatility and range unlike any blues singer ever. R.I.P. Etta....D. Harvey Alcoa, Tennessee
