Hello I am a fan of roth and it fragments I l likes but I do not know how to read the music and would be it possible that you send him(it) to me note by note on tablatures or register(record) you in slow motion thank you

I cant read tabs , music or any other media , this is all by ear and self taught no lessons so I am just like you ! Send me a video of your best solo and i will learn it and play it back for you . You - my good man need to train your ear and fingers not use the other methods . Your improvisational skill will only improve by the old school methods of guitar soloing by ear .I probably would get better though if I learned how to read music so i am not saying that it's a bad thing to learn that way

I mean i'm not saying you can't, but without being shown the techniques how would you know about things like sweep picking, or even the basic chord shapes?

I'm not saying your lying, but it just seems to me that it would take an eternity to work everything out like that from trial & error..

Like i said i'm not being critical i'm just wondering where you would have picked up the techniques from with having no prior knowledge of the instrument & just listening to records..

why would I lie to anyone about the guitar skills I have ? I dont use sweep picking by the way it is all alternate picking . I played 10 hours a day for 4 years when I was 13 to 17 years of age in my Bedroom just listening to Tapes and rewinding untill it sounded right .

I think your an amazing guitar player & like i said i wasn't accusing you of lying..

It's just to me it seems incredible that without any instruction & just by listening to music that you would be able to have worked out that alternate picking would be the most efficient method & also have worked out scale & chord shapes as well..

Well there was a guy named Alan Scwartz , who was from my neiborhood who was the best guitar player I have ever seen ! He was 4 years older than me . Alan could play all the Blackmore , Page , Steve Howe note for note , pick for pick etc ... He was incredible on both Acoustic and electric guitar so I was inspired by the best guitar player ever and although you probably never heard of Him I am not exaggerating . His picking was all Alternate and at 15 years old He told me that was the key to it !

Actually i have a special admiration for players that have a fluid clean alternate picking technique such as John Mcgloughlin or Paul Gilbert as it really does produce the most effective sounding results when done right..

With those guys it's not just flailing up & down really fast with the picking hand, they actually understand the importance of dynamics & picking out certain beats..

Yes youre right ! This was done back a few years ago ! You know my good friend Dave lasky has taken lots of vids over the years and I just recently started uploading them . It's funny but I never really took this very seriously the video thing ! Now I am glad that He was astute enough to document so many solo's and jams ! There is over 25 years of different gigs and jams He started way back and we got stuff from 1980 to last night !
