Having faster drum doesn't mean faster general tempo... Slayer is still one of the fastest metal bands, even nowadays. Bands that have like 6 strokes on the bass and snare drum while the guitar riffs are half that speed are not faster bands to me. Same goes with Sepultura's death metal debut Morbid Visions / Bestial Devastation (but in a less extreme way, cause there are no "hyperblast"). Old Sepultura is good though... Check out some kickass thrash classics like Schizophrenia and Arise.

Morbid Visions is technically Blackened thrash metal. You want fast listen to old Sarcofago or Vulcano. They're part of the first wave of Black Metal.
