  • YEA !!!... COANDA EFECT...HENRI COANDA WAS ROMANIAN...LIKE ME

  • Too noisy. That thing will wake up the dead ! I'm very disappointed, that noone right now, hasn't invented devices, that are artificially intelligent, antigravital - AND QUIET.

  • @sweetnancyp I'm very disappointed too. In your command of English, and it's proper punctuation. Antigravital? God you people. Best if you just S T F U.

  • I hope the audience clapping didn't have to pay to see this.

  • Very noisy... what ?

  • anything that makes that much noise, has to do something?

  • Pice of shit

  • Omg its clearly a high school project and your all attackin the poor people that had a go at makin something... Fuck me, crucify the lad doin an expetiment thats not up to your standards, bunch of fuckin jerks.

  • Can it fly without ground effect?

  • Hey could bring round to my house...my grass need cut! haha

  • For aaronissaccfranz - the word is 'propulsion'. Perpulsion is what 'persons' do when they feel 'revulsion' for lame spelling.

Yep. I agree with your sentiments. It's crap. Reminds me of a cross between 4 pavlovas and 4 nuclear reactor chimneys doing a pissweak wobbly dance.

  • well that was kind of lame. if you really wanted to impress people you would have used a magnetic engine coil for perpulson. lot smaller and more powerful.

  • Rather unstable.

  • 4 propellers, so what?

  • awesome. now fly it over Mexico so i can get my $20 camera phone out. conspiracy theorists are gonna have a field day!

  • my $30 helicopters flys better than this heap of shit

  • now stand on it

  • 4 helicopters strapped together.. whats so impressive about that...?

  • Now.... can i ride this thing to school? maybe mow my lawn with it lol!!

  • What is this folks? Really, does this guy or team think they accomplish something great? they are losing their time they need to improve their intelligence and notice that real technology is far more advance than this, and that they don't have access to none of what is important science, well hidden in black but slowly leaking out since a year or two in the mainstream... I would hide my head in the sand if I were them.

  • this is more of an helicopter than a lifter.

Nice try but you're off the track

  • Lifter technology instead of propellers? Lot less moving parts and weight = safer everything.. Throw in an andrea Rossi cold fusion electricity generator and you'd be good to go. Thumbs this comment up if you'd like some of these propeller cars to at least look at the "anti-gravity" (not anti gravity) wind lifters on youtube and adapt them instead.

  • and these days, they're $200 foam toys that you control with your phone... hahaha

  • I built this in Gary's mod

  • @rfry Hail Gmod!

  • rubbish. a model of an older piece of rabbish.

  • and today just 4 years later, you can buy a quadrocopter for some bucks and it realy does what you want.

  • hahah run the the dunny bowls are attacking

  • great, they made a small helicopter....whats the point?

  • That's not a lifter, those are called ducted fans. Completely different technology.

  • indias predator drone :)

  • man, you don´t deserve those applauses, you're into robotics but obviously no vtol notion you have

  • LOL, dont do this at home kids!! I love utube see other people do this shit so u dont have too!!

  • @acerkiwi Why would you discourage people from doing this at home? Many people nowadays build quadcopters at home.

  • This design is inferior, there are far better designs currently.

  • @acerkiwi LOVE TO SEE MY UTUBE DESIGNS (OF PILOTED VEHICLES) BEING BUILT ON UTUBE SO I DON'T HAVE TO BUILD THEM AND SPEND THE MONEY.

  • This will put many Janitors out of a job in the future. Once the new Yu-fly Gym floor cleaner arrives.

  • ARDrone can do this better :D

  • Orrrrr use your intellect to help society????

  • I hear it lifts 35 lbs of suck.

Personally, I think they are being too optimistic.

  • It would be more efficient to just use the 4 rotors, and forget the coanda effect.

It provides no advantage for this aircraft.

  • what is this?

    Pls make something good........

U R having good resources .. use them

  • high voltage doesn't go along with high current...which is what you keep calling amperage =P....I'm doing a project with the B-B effect that's 30 kV and 500 microamps, definitely highvoltage, but the worst it can do is sting like hell.

  • Why is everyone clapping? Are these high school kids? If so that's impressive.

  • I have one of these. It's called the AR Drone.

  • haha its a quadrocopter

  • @coffeebuzzz It's a shame you wasted your money =/

  • great for dusting a parking garage.

  • hmm doesn't seem very efficient.

  • it is actually lawnmower , with quad cutter

  • your computer that's supposed to solve differences in turbulence etc, making it stable are.. faulty? slow because its too ponderous and big? and therefor recting too slowly to changes.

so overengineer it more by putting on 4 extra small light fans in between. 4 for the bulk lifiting, 4 to keep the entire heavy thing stable. as small enginges will react faster to the movements.

not that i'm a pro or anything, all i know is that i know nothing, but its just a guess.

  • bulky piece of crap

  • nthn special. same old conventional ideas..

  • isnt that a quadrotor?

  • lolz its cool, doesn't do much, but still cool.

  • I don't know... The usefulness is questionable and the design is abnormal but I love the startup and shut down noises.

  • load of shite

  • This was an... umm... interesting experiment in control synchronization. But as far as efficiency goes, it would be better to have ONE big device, not four small ones. Easier to build, more powerful, and easier to control.

  • Looking at this, it looks like four different coanda effect prototypes stuck together.

  • Was anyone else having visions of a Terminator-like Apocalypse while watching this thing fly?

  • @L00NGB00W ya me it downright freaking

  • Pointless machine

  • Go on.

  • tkae that myth busters

  • really really really really really really worst than rc toy

  • I think there is something called helicopter? So what this flying thing called?

  • Thats a hovercraft in need of gyroscopic stablization

  • If aliens bothered commenting on videos like these, it would make these people clapping feel very very very stupid.

  • this is what happens when you feed your blenders steroids.

  • Lame.

  • how much did that toy cost? you can buy a toy for less than a hundred bucks that is much more stable than that. check youtube RC model toys, lol I would be afraid to be anywhere near that thing. lol.

  • those are just fans lol

  • its way too over-engineered

  • @serridgeas so i ironman but noone complains

  • @serridgeas aint that the beauty of it! look what you can do with styrofoam, paper and 12,000 hours of your life.

  • @serridgeas thats why its so brilliant people have made tri copters and quad copters but this is something completly unique to itself

  • @serridgeas

dude.....it's held together by two planks and duct tape.....

  • @serridgeas LOL! it's just a quadrocopter. And it's not over engineered, it over decorated. The engineering part is simple

  • @remembersid they should see my Oktokoper ^^

  • lol imagine a floating couch!!lol, as u liue down, it stailizes and it works as a spring so you don't feel the fall....lol, i sound fat

  • @me2goodfoyou Sounds like something on the Jetsons and I've always wanted one of everything the Jetson's have.. XD

Would be comfy but only if it were quiet so I could hear the floating TV!!

  • that my friend, would be awesome.

  • HAA HA HA!! Looks like it is made out of chutney drums! You can buy something similar from toys 'r' us that flies itself for about 10 bucks, dont give up the day job

  • Both the military and hobbyists were building gadgets like these over 50 years ago.....

  • the dumb toy!

  • Note that planar drift is always a problem with these types of vehicles and that feedback control regulation is *not* trivial on quad-rotors. Many PhD thesis have been written on stabilization techniques, using such methods as PID or LQR.

  • can you get it above ground effect without it pitching over?

  • i doubt it, the center of gravity needs to be lower to stabilize it above the range where the ground effect stabilizes it

  • Ground effect does not stabilize a vehicle. I'm a flight dynamicist, so if you want to go into more depth I'll be happy to explain why.

  • Wow!! That's extremely stable!! : O

  • thats probably the result of good measurements, good maths, and fans rotating opposite directions.

  • Yu yu yu

  • get a gyro

  • Presenting the hover craft 2, 100 times a clumsy and 20 years older than the original!!

Coming to a store near you!

  • LMAO!!

  • haha!

    Noisy toy!

  • RETARDED! watch?v=AK2QBuKGrGA

    that's the future!

  • what a waste!

  • Not very impressive, and way too clumsy.

    Try searching for "Quadrokopter" here...

  • very noise is to loud not good need to work on that to silent better

  • It is not a home appliance.

The craft's purpose is to demonstrate the Coanda effect.

It does not need to be silent to do this.

When you see an atom bomb explode do you complain that it needs to be more silent?

Creating SILENT science experiments is not really a priority in our society. There are more important things to think about.

  • hehe wow that's messed up. why 4 and not just one big??

and is that wood planks that hold them together?

  • are 4 fans same spins,,,

or 2 left spins and 2 right spins

  • And where did you learn to spell?

  • Without the ground effect, it could not even get off the ground for a couple of inches. It's amazing to see, how people regularly ignore laws of physics - and are disappointed about the results.

    ;-))

  • There are other videos of similar models getting much higher using the coanda effect. This is because the air is being drawn over the top of the wing, creating a pressure differential much like a plane. I believe the effect you're referring to is more like a hovercraft, which does indeed rely on the pressure between the platform and the ground.

I may be mistaken and you were referring to the aerodynamics of the crossbar. I don't know how this would affect flight.

  • FuguDrift, not the Coanda-effect itself, but a propper (numerical) design makes fly such objects, that are even used as commercial- and military recon-UAVs today. This thing here suffers from too week engines, so only the air-cushion effect (as used in hovercrafts indeed) is responsible lift it for a handful inches. Interaction between moved adjecent air-colums is just another topic. Scalability laws prevent a really 'big' Coanda-effect based craft. (Required engine-power goes with m^3)

    ;-))

  • This would make a cool hoverboard if it had someplace to stand in the middle.

  • a humans weight would just make it fall down

  • At first I thought it was a ducted fan aircushion. Then i see that its ducted fan lifting body like a circular wing, COOL!!!!

  • unstable and way to heavy

  • kinda like Susan Boyle?

  • I want my flying car!

  • If you fly it upside down it can make a nice Vaccum.

  • lol.

  • what do you use it for

  • It's used for demonstrating the Coanda effect

  • wow something new... WTF?

  • wow vertical takeoff......IT SEEMS HELICOPTORS HAVE THAT SORTED ALREADY..WE WANT SILENT ANTIGRAVITY MACHINES NOT THIS 20TH CENTURY BULLSHIT...SORT IT OUT YOU SLAGS.

  • settle down Mr Angry, drink some tea.

  • what junk! try to look up "ground effect" - that's all you have here, and it will never fly higher.

  • you are so right about the ground effect.

same reason the avrocar did not fly and same reason Germanys experiments if any would not have worked as well

  • get all the fans on gyros, that will keep them stable. so if it is flying one way, increase the speed of the fan on the side that it is traveling, and it will stay in one position.

  • me want to smash pinyata thing.

  • very gooood

  • if you scale this up the gap between the fan hull and the disk-shaped body must smaller in porportion for optimal effect.

  • Mad and noisey.

    No real scientific merit.

But i guess fun to make.

  • Nothing more then a horribly designed helicopter...

  • Nothing more than a horribly ignorant post.

  • yes it is basically four fans, but the fans are blowing around the outside of the housings, not directly down from the blades.Thats why they call it the Coanda effect

  • This is just basicly 4 electric fans taped together

  • not really, google coanda

  • the Coanda effect ;D nice

  • cool!

  • this you can try at home, take an old box fan, and heres where it takes a bit of creation, Replace that low speed motor with a highspeed from an old vacume cleaner, Its funny trust me when we did this, It fell over hoovered and made a sound like an airaid siren,

  • amazing, I like human technology

  • A lifter this isn't. Lifters use an electric field to ionize air and force it downward. This has propellers.

  • a lifter is something that lifts.

Those Ionic wind toys do not have a monopoly on the term.

  • "toys"? This thing is called the "Yu-Fly" (you-fly). Now that's a toy. Ion-wind lifters run ten to thirty thousand volts of electricity through them. In so many words, if you touch one while it is flying, you could very well die. I don't call that a toy.

  • You're thinking of the other kind of lifter. This one has motors and fans.

  • Err, autocon2002... If you touched one you would not necessarily die, just as birds don't die when they sit on live wires (they ain't grounded!). And Prenoud is right, totally different machine.

  • Ion lifters are indeed grounded. The current goes from a power source to the corona wire, then ionizes the air around it, and the air travels downwards towards the aluminum foil skirt that's grounded. That's how it works, and it's very dangerous to touch.

  • voltage doesnt kill...amperage does.

  • Yep Nikola Tesla would agree, its the frequency.

  • Not quite true, it's the total volume of the combination of the two.

  • its too early in the mornin to be splittin hairs :)

  • @Duckyistrippin total ohmage :] also, the resistance is futile because u forgot to use the transformula lmfao, that's all we did in physics, sit in the back of the class and make bad physics jokes :] easy class tho ;p

  • @Duckyistrippin However, Ohm's law says that for a given amount of resistance (your body), more voltage allows more amperage to flow if it is available.

  • @benjwgarner ...."if its available" so uhh. what you are telling me is amps kill? wow. thanks dummy.

  • @Duckyistrippin No, because you already know that. I'm saying high voltage is dangerous too, voltage can kill because it goes along with increased amperage.

  • @benjwgarner lol i know what you are saying..but the amperage has to be available. 4 billion volts in of itself wont kill you. voltage is just potential. like a gun in the drawer. amperage is how much powder is in the shell casing. doesnt matter how big that gun in the drawer is... ;)

  • @Duckyistrippin Right, so we agree. ;)

  • @Duckyistrippin sexy answer

  • @Duckyistrippin Is there a way to have amperage without voltage? Cause that seems cool.

  • @Duckyistrippin

    Only both at once.

  • @Duckyistrippin Amperage doesn't kill, having your cells boiled by the current does.

  • @luccaskunk um...current is measured in amps (aka amperage) :P there the same thing...

  • @shadowOrgon sure but reread what I said, it's the cells boiling that actually kills. Like how it's not the fall that kills, it's the sudden stop at the end. It's not the gun that kills, it's the bullet penetrating the flesh. Etc etc. I'm just being silly :P

  • @luccaskunk what krap101 said is right the current interferes with the hearts natural electrical impulse( which keeps your heart pumping) and stops your heart

  • @shadowOrgon that's why I said "touche!" but apparently that didn't get posted... stupid YouTube dropping comments.

  • @luccaskunk Cells boiling doesn't kill, your heart stopping does.

  • @Duckyistrippin And of course it's the voltage (and corresponding resistance) that allows the current to do anything at all.

  • Its basically a hovercraft.

  • this is coanda effect, it has nothing to do with hoovercrafts..

  • good work

  • thats sweet where can i buy one to ride?

  • you can make everything in these times ;]

     ;];]

  • Very bad design. It 2 key flaws making it very inefficient resulting in very low lift...the propellers are too big and the lift surface outside the diameter of the propeller is too little resulting in very low lift capability.

  • Interesting observation. What modifications would you make? Increase the diameter of the "bell"?

  • Cool stuff! well done

  • Very good demonstration

  • bravo, esta super buena la maquinita ¿ puede volar màs alto? o necesitan màs dinero?
