well that was kind of lame. if you really wanted to impress people you would have used a magnetic engine coil for perpulson. lot smaller and more powerful.
What is this folks? Really, does this guy or team think they accomplish something great? they are losing their time they need to improve their intelligence and notice that real technology is far more advance than this, and that they don't have access to none of what is important science, well hidden in black but slowly leaking out since a year or two in the mainstream... I would hide my head in the sand if I were them.
Lifter technology instead of propellers? Lot less moving parts and weight = safer everything.. Throw in an andrea Rossi cold fusion electricity generator and you'd be good to go. Thumbs this comment up if you'd like some of these propeller cars to at least look at the "anti-gravity" (not anti gravity) wind lifters on youtube and adapt them instead.
high voltage doesn't go along with high current...which is what you keep calling amperage =P....I'm doing a project with the B-B effect that's 30 kV and 500 microamps, definitely highvoltage, but the worst it can do is sting like hell.
your computer that's supposed to solve differences in turbulence etc, making it stable are.. faulty? slow because its too ponderous and big? and therefor recting too slowly to changes.
so overengineer it more by putting on 4 extra small light fans in between. 4 for the bulk lifiting, 4 to keep the entire heavy thing stable. as small enginges will react faster to the movements.
not that i'm a pro or anything, all i know is that i know nothing, but its just a guess.
This was an... umm... interesting experiment in control synchronization. But as far as efficiency goes, it would be better to have ONE big device, not four small ones. Easier to build, more powerful, and easier to control.
how much did that toy cost? you can buy a toy for less than a hundred bucks that is much more stable than that. check youtube RC model toys, lol I would be afraid to be anywhere near that thing. lol.
HAA HA HA!! Looks like it is made out of chutney drums! You can buy something similar from toys 'r' us that flies itself for about 10 bucks, dont give up the day job
Note that planar drift is always a problem with these types of vehicles and that feedback control regulation is *not* trivial on quad-rotors. Many PhD thesis have been written on stabilization techniques, using such methods as PID or LQR.
Without the ground effect, it could not even get off the ground for a couple of inches. It's amazing to see, how people regularly ignore laws of physics - and are disappointed about the results.
There are other videos of similar models getting much higher using the coanda effect. This is because the air is being drawn over the top of the wing, creating a pressure differential much like a plane. I believe the effect you're referring to is more like a hovercraft, which does indeed rely on the pressure between the platform and the ground.
I may be mistaken and you were referring to the aerodynamics of the crossbar. I don't know how this would affect flight.
FuguDrift, not the Coanda-effect itself, but a propper (numerical) design makes fly such objects, that are even used as commercial- and military recon-UAVs today. This thing here suffers from too week engines, so only the air-cushion effect (as used in hovercrafts indeed) is responsible lift it for a handful inches. Interaction between moved adjecent air-colums is just another topic. Scalability laws prevent a really 'big' Coanda-effect based craft. (Required engine-power goes with m^3)
wow vertical takeoff......IT SEEMS HELICOPTORS HAVE THAT SORTED ALREADY..WE WANT SILENT ANTIGRAVITY MACHINES NOT THIS 20TH CENTURY BULLSHIT...SORT IT OUT YOU SLAGS.

yes it is basically four fans, but the fans are blowing around the outside of the housings, not directly down from the blades.Thats why they call it the Coanda effect
this you can try at home, take an old box fan, and heres where it takes a bit of creation, Replace that low speed motor with a highspeed from an old vacume cleaner, Its funny trust me when we did this, It fell over hoovered and made a sound like an airaid siren,

Err, autocon2002... If you touched one you would not necessarily die, just as birds don't die when they sit on live wires (they ain't grounded!). And Prenoud is right, totally different machine.
Ion lifters are indeed grounded. The current goes from a power source to the corona wire, then ionizes the air around it, and the air travels downwards towards the aluminum foil skirt that's grounded. That's how it works, and it's very dangerous to touch.

@benjwgarner lol i know what you are saying..but the amperage has to be available. 4 billion volts in of itself wont kill you. voltage is just potential. like a gun in the drawer. amperage is how much powder is in the shell casing. doesnt matter how big that gun in the drawer is... ;)
