  • Jorr-dan posture -.-

  • 0:51 Swords are touching

  • The secrets of Yagyu Shinkage Ryu (Kenjutsu)

    watch?v=FfhtYKQ-iU0

  • He is pro in distance !!!

Sword just past close his nose !!!

  • Thanks for posting these ...

  • This is Kendo, not Iaido, they are two completely different system. Kendo is a compromise for sports purpose and iaido is the truely authentic fighting form.

  • @ultuma I woulnd'nt say that. It's true that Kendo can fall from an art to a sprot more easely than Iaido, however, it has'nt fall yet (at least, not everywhere)

Go to see "Samurai Spirit kendo" on youtube, I think you'll find it pretty intresting.

(Despite the look "amrican-made, it's quite good actually)

  • Why don't they use Bankai?

  • @rgnygvbhtf Because their noob shinigamis

  • @rgnygvbhtf thats weird. after I get through saying that about the 12 kata.... lol

  • @rgnygvbhtf You just made my day :D

  • @rgnygvbhtf lol...

obviously because as evident, they are both lieutenants, not captains therefore it is unlikely they can perform a bankai.

    XD (kidding)

  • why are they always "adopting the chudan posture"?

  • Thanks for uploading:)

  • This is just small segments (clips) from the All Japan Kendo Federation (ZNKR - Zen Nippon Kendo Renmai) video on Kendo Kata.

If you search on this site for 'Kendo kata' you can find the complete version.

So, if this interests anyone - please take the time and contact your local Kendo club.

  • why did you title this vid Kendo Iaido?

It is only Katana no Gata-the IKF Kendo kata used to teach 99% of kendoka the sword aspect of kendo.

It has NO IAIDO.Iaido is covered in Setel Gata Iaido and is a compilation from the 10 most prominent traditional Japanese styles. This is also an IKF invention and most good Iaido schools have a ryu ha or their own Iaido style.Setei Gata is for grading purposes so everyone can be assesed on an equal footing

  • nice

  • to me i looks bad filmed

  • LOOKS LIKE BATTODO TO ME.

  • This is Kendo

  • This is kendo, dude, look at 'em! Iaido is the art of drawing and resheathing the sword. They don't even get close to that. And, yeah. The song's bad.

  • This is Kendo kata, not Iaido

  • It's 100% Kendo kata. This first one I don't remember each is, but 2nd and 3rd are 1st and 2nd kendo kata form, 4th one is 5th kendo kata form.

  • this is not Iaido...Iaido is the art of unsheething the sorwd and striking

  • .... woooow

  • omg why you even say that get a life

  • drills like this are better discribed as kenjutsu

  • No, these are kendo kata.

  • like i said music is very hypnotoic

  • wait isnt that kata?

  • the music sounds very weird

  • Is that all Iaido is? one strike then cleaning the sword? I gotta do Iaido, practice on me mate john hehe : )

  • Since Iaido seems the "official" way,The other style where the blade is held down like a cane,is probably someone's self made style and not the official "samurai." style historically? Thank you for shareing & posting this very educational video.

  • Seitei is the most commen form of iaido considered to be the offical form practised by most styles, there is however other forms of iaido unique to particular styles but they tend to be taught after you have gained experience in the basics of seitei

  • Great Video! I have a question to ask. Whats the difference between Iaido and Kendo? Does Iaido teach you how to fight using a sword,as kendo(Shinai)?

Sorry for the questions, just some things i want to know before i start!

  • Nope, Iaido is the art of drawing the sword, 'killing' the opponent, cleaning the sword and then replacing it within the scabbard. For practice purposes the cleaning part is ommitted!

  • Iaido starts when the sword is drawn and a strike is made. they strike once, and clean the sword. after that, you put the sword in the scabbard again. Kendo, indeed uses a shinai, but its more focused on having another opponent. with Iaido, you mostly practice alone. in Kendo, you focus on striking and blocking, and....scoring points. kendo's a sport now, Iaido a more traditional way of the sword.

  • emmm iaido is the perfect tecniche , and is somthing more filosofic , than ,like a trike or a kiri in the head, iaido is the way of the sword ,iaido ,is the soul you can train wihout a sword or bokken or shinai, you train with your mind

    cya

  • Kendo teaches you how to use your sword to score points....

Iaido teaches you how to kill...

  • huh umm ur right oh hi my name is ryuki kendo and iaido are modern martial arts they're offshoots of kenjutsu and iaijutsu

  • awesome

  • i'm going to try iaido this week.

  • I love the way the bad mouthing idiots are all talking about Iaido....these kata are all Nihon Kendo No Kata.

That's Kendo Kata. And all sowrd arts have a use and should be practiced, Iai is good for self control, coordination and spacial awareness, and Kendo is great for aggression control, spirit building, concentration and control of your opponent.

If you're going to bad mouth something, at least know what you're on about.

  • Preech on brother! I agree with everything yous ay and this is probably the most useful comment on this vdeo. Thanks for saying what all the rest of us can't manage to get ito words!

  • The problem of approving comments on theese vids is that you allow the "desktop fighters" to enter. You can never win against a desktopfighter in his arena.. however.. Invite the desktopfighter to fight on YOUR terms.. If he doesn't show up, he lost.

  • the guys voice is annoying.

  • i lke tomatoes...

  • I always like how crisp these guys are. While me Ipponme is pretty good, I have a long way on Nanahonme.

  • I agree, Nanahonme is a touch awkward, lol. I always manage to land on my knee a little too heavy.

  • so much to learn in one life so little time luckily im still young

  • Iaido is the art of sword drawing. Kenjutsu is the art of sword combat.

Kendo is a sword sport, limited to 4 types of attack in full contact to develop your combat swordsmanship against an opponent with equal intent (developed by samurai as training technique). There is also kendo kata, which is demonstrated in the vid.

  • This is a kendo kata, but performed with steel blades for some reason (possibly renshi or better?). Normally kendo kata is performed with bokken.

Iaido is a seperate art to kendo, however, some do both, to form a more complete understanding of swordsmanship! (As i do)

  • Well you just showed how much of a complete dickhead you are 666nami, you cant carry a sword around in real life anyway. Dont rubbish other arts just because you dont understand them! Yeah these arts were developed many hundreds of years ago, for a very different time in humanity; i study these arts so as not to lose this martial heritage to modern hybrid/mongrel arts! Its about spirit, oneness & personal perfection!

*yeah its a koryu kata, you should know what that means! Get a life!!!

  • Eishin-Ryu is reported to be 450 years old.

And even a gun is useless in the hands of a moron so I suggest you staying away from them.

  • It is a sign of a lack of skill when you insult other martial arts and we know this is useless if you can't carry a sword but its heritage that needs to be preserved. Generally when you commend a martial arts i means you study it and i find that to be annoying because no one martial arts covers everything

  • it's of no use to insult other martial arts. you're right about that.

on the point of recommending a martial art, one can speak from experience and say that that martial art is good because of this or that. to someone who doesn't know about the martial art it's a mystery if there is anything good about it.

  • If i use Kenjutsu to fight, believe me, i´ll never get you aweke. Moral: Don´t sleep again.

  • Nice!

I can now see the class and the depth of Nami-Ryu. Thanks! Now I know what to stay away from.

  • Do Iaido practioners do kendo as well to practice their sword techniques but with contact and armour on,is that where this comes from?

  • lol i could tell you right from the start it wasn't kendo.. cause they usualy start a kata from the sword draw xD

  • Wrong. It's kendo kata.

  • ahh sorry, my last post i ment Iaido - " Cause they usualy start a kata from the sword Draw"

  • this is a kendo kata!

  • This isn't "kendo iaido" at all. This is just footage from a DVD about the kendo kata. It is legit but please rename this clip correctly.
