Golgarach's Advice: "Give her something to chew on, or her friends may chew on you. The first step is a tree. A tree. It is not, however, the next step."
Upon hearing "I command you.": "The doors ahead are not locked by any normal means."
Series 3 is the first series I watched. I would have turned 4 during this series' run. The two things that I remember the most about this series was the dice throwing special effect and the portcullis slamming shut followed by a close of the flames. Of course all these things disappeared from series 4 onwards (the portcullis still fell but gone was the sound effect that accompanied the original theme tune).
I actually like what they started doing with the life-force this series; the way it appears on the walls and on the floor. It somehow seems more menacing.
Before that, the show was still finding its feet I think, and after that (particularly in 4, 5 and 6, I think) all the psychadelic-colour-castles) were just a bit trippy for my liking.
I'm watching this after seeing the final series. There was certainly a sense of stark danger. I think Treguard's remaining sense of 'I'm not really on your side, live or die for all I care' that you get sometimes helps, as does his strange lilt.
The camera zoning in on exists as if following the dungeoneer are an atmospheric touch, too.
Even after three series the kids can't quite get the knack of saying their own names comfortably or calling upon the supporters that will guide them through the dungeon. "Tom, Craig, Brian... come". "Try again, stranger, and don't look so embarrassed this time, nobody forced you to take part in this game, did they? Give the impression you believe in this world, and start with being in awe of my supreme booming voice."
True, true. If I had been on this show as a kid I would have run with it. Of course, I was also in drama club and played D&D. LOL, hurray for nerds! =0
Yay, on to Knightmare's best series. 3 out of 3, good start. The iris question was one of those that was obvious but I hadn't a clue until I heard the answer.
Brilliant - I used to look forward to Fridays just for this program lol. Now that Gary's done this brilliant job - I'm reliving it all again. Top Notch
PS I work for an AI company. will try to create something like this at work tomorrow
At least the wall monsters no longer look like someone's flabby beergut - covered in paint - talking.

wcwnumber1fan 7 months ago
@wcwnumber1fan You mean the Corridor of Blades. That was series 4 and could be found in Level 3 and was used again in later series (but not as much).

@wcwnumber1fan that would be this season, and she's actually called Morgana. But she's none the less deadly.

i always felt sad at time passing and reaching season 3 . i always preferred the earlier seasons 1 and 2 1987 and 88. more vintage and original.

I think the claymation wallmonsters looked better than CGI

Shame Cedric wasnt back, he was epic. But the dungeon must change...Hope he, folly, Mildred and everyone weren't killed when it collapsed.

@xedalpha1 Sadly, as far as I know, only Merlin, Olaf and Mogdred survived. the shift from Phase 2 to Phase 3, I mean.

I love the fact that the intro seems to portray the adventure of what is more likely to be an NPC than a contestant or whatever they're called.

the quality of the life force image at first was bad, whether that was the broadcasting or the recording, i don't know.

Thanks to changes the dungeon became more challenging, eerie and mysterious.
Also the egyptian elements added so much needed atmosphere-feline fire =)

Series 3 was, in my humble opinion, the best.
Before that, the show was still finding its feet I think, and after that (particularly in 4, 5 and 6, I think) all the psychadelic-colour-castles) were just a bit trippy for my liking.
lukelewisDOTnet 2 years ago 2
Not to mention the butchered theme tune.
BCJ1985 2 years ago
i like that they added the dwaf tunnel idea to this series.
the different colours in each level, and the oddasional serpent's throat variation. (if that's what it was known as)

why do you think it was the best.
TONYCOV881 3 years ago
Series 3-6 were my favourites.
Season 8 lost the plot by killing veryone by fireballs and having the shortcut to level three for the last two quests of that series. I mean wtf?

No wonder today's kids grow up thick - there's no quality programmes on TV like Knightmare, Puddle Lane, Rainbow etc. to educate or entertain them.
