@CallMeBoss212 i think they win because the people there are usually drunk and/or assholes. also, as he says at the end, they are basically clever for a living, so they generally have a quicker wit than the guy in the audience.

Jimmy's response was funny. Not his peak of humor, but he was also just dealing with some asshole making stupid jokes and he still owned him.
TL;DR They have the audiences support because they are funny, not the other way around.

I think people get carried away with Comedians abilities to handle hecklers. Like, "Oh what a STUPID FUCKER, Jimmy IS A PROFESSIONAL STAND UP, WHAT A TOOL" ... It's like, maybe... just maybe there's someone in the audience who is more witty that has not chosen stand up as a career? Maybe not in this instance but in the global spectrum. Being a comedian and possessing paranormal wit do not run hand in hand.
