  • Miss NFL PRIMETIME!

  • looks like a fumble to me. he drop the ball before his knees were down. that is a fumble in the nfl.

  • People need to stop talking about Rice fumbling.....and start talking about the touchdown the refs stole from the 49ers in the 97 NFC Championship!!!

  • @BigdogH201 packers always beat the niners. lol

  • @BigdogH201 cause the truth hurts. you sound like a niner fan lol.

  • @925jdb ...I kind of am!!!

  • This game is why we now have review once more lol

  • i still dont get how jerry rice could ever fumble

  • @tauempirekid easy, jerry was running with the football and he drop the football and his knees were not down and the packers recovered the football. i seen this game.

  • @925jdb but i still cant believe the god of a WR could ever EVER drop the ball

  • JERRY RICE FUMBLED clap clap clapclapclap JERRY RICE FUMBLED

  • It's great to hear still Chris Berman and Tom Jackson doin' it.

  • so for those packer fans who watched the 2012 divisional playoff game packers vs. NY giants. the NY giants were robbed of a fumble by the refs setting up a packers TD. but in the end it didnt matter. refs blow it from time to time. it happens to EVERYBODY.

  • @twocents856 and then the following weewk the 49ers were robbed of a fumble because Tom Coughlin bribed the referee.

  • @disneydanny2 very true. "forward progress"?!?!? complete nonsense. and the "grazing of the knee". i mean that did happen, but it was still such a bullshit reason for them to get the ball back.

  • Owens cried like a little bitch because he knew that catch was going to be the only catch in his career that ever meant anything.

Obviously, he didn't really know that. Maybe if he did his career wouldn't have turned out to be a traveling circus show that left behind a steaming pile of elephant dung at every stop.

  • @pgbruiser I guess your not up to date, TO is by far one of the best Wide Receivers in NFL history look at the stats in NFL website.

  • did anybody else think of this when vernon davis caught that pass vs the saints and cried afterwards?

  • FUMBLE!

  • This was when defenses were actually allowed to play. Unlike this travesty we have today where a quarterback can turn around after the snap, kick the ball in the air and either it's a 50 yard gain, defensive pass interference or a roughing the passer.

  • @joemoe23 Actually Ty Law that season was complaining that the league had handcuffed defenses too much.

  • 49ers rule! in ur face geenbay loosers!

  • One of the greatest playoff games in NFL history, period.

  • that was a fumble. ridiculous.

  • @lilmoe102 as a 49ers fan and Jerry Rice fan, I say that was indeed a fumble, but as Steve Mariucci would say "bummer" to bad its over tho and we won.

  • back in the time when wide receivers were not dancing like gigi the topless.

  • Why are Packers fans still trolling over that fumble?? Is there nothing else to do in Cheesehead land?... Oh wait. Nevermind - dumb question.

  • @PitchingMDNNNNNNNot the good team to attack... they cant ear you (championship ring in the ear syndrome)n it was a fumblllllle!

  • @PitchingMD Celebrating our SB champion team is pretty fun, going to add another this year, umad?

  • LOL at some of these butt-hurt Packer fans still bitching about Rice fumbling, while your at it why dont you bring up how you needed the refs to help you win the 1997 NFC Championship game against our injured squad

  • IT WAS A FUMBLE!!

  • @greenbayoftexas thank you.

  • 7:20 aaaand ladies and gentlemen, this is why we now have replay challenges.

  • 1:39 a Clark makes a playoff catch for the Niners.

  • How do you miss that call? He was standing up when he fumbled. It's not like it was close and you needed the slow motion replay to see it.

  • Hey we paid for it with 8 Yrs of Mediocrity SO We'll take it as a great moment in 9 ers history.

  • Let's be honest. Jerry Rice fumbled that ball. That being said this is one of my favorite memories as a niner fan. Steve Young at his best, a healthy Garrison Hearst, redemption for Terrell Owens after such an awful game, the great defense of the 49ers, Brett Favre at his best and a fantastic rivalry. Who could ask for anything more?

  • The 1998 Playoffs was among the most astonishing in NFL history, first with this game and then with the Vikings-Falcons NFC Title Game.

  • whats the sound ??

  • This gives me chills when i watch...still!!!!

  • This entire game was great to me as a Niner fan but Garrison Hearst treating the Packers defense like dime store hookers was epic, especially that stiff arm on Leroy Butler.

  • One of the worst calls in pro football history. That play was the reason instant replay was put back into the NFL.

  • @docj09 It wouldn't have mattered anyways even by today's standards. It was in the two minute window. So it couldn't have been challenged.

  • @astrostar49 Really? Since when did plays in the last 2 minutes of the game become un-review able? Coaches can't make challenges in the last 2 minutes of a half, but the booth makes the challenges in the last 2 minutes of a half. That play would have been challenged from the booth and would have been overturned.

  • @docj09 so would've like five Packers plays that were jokes. The #1 probably would have to be Don Bebe's-didn't get touched play with Marques Pope, that was a joke!

  • The last great game of the 1990s.

  • As a Cowboys fan, I always root for the Pack to cream the Niners.

  • if it was anyone else that fumbled the ball it would of been called back, it was the fact that jerry rice never fumbled that the referees figured he caught it, he was the best in the game, no question asked but i disagree with the call, but life goes on. GO PACK

  • Owens!! He caught it!! Go Niners!!!

  • I loved that they signed Charles Haley for this game

  • Packers should have won. Jerry Rice fumbled.

  • Wow I loved this game.Fresh outta jail and had my mom sending me Sports Illustrated and newspapers the whole time I was in just to keep up with my Niners!I still have the 11/18/1996 S.I. with Evander beating Tyson and the article on Past Their Prime about yes the fall of two powerhouses in the Cowboys and my Niners.

  • its ok.....we kno how good the 9ers are nowadays

  • @spectre0075

Bullshit. The refs knew that as a fumble and quickly let the 49ers start the next play without even discussing it. And in any case, the Packers are Super Bowl champions, so talking about a game that was thrown by the refs 12 years ago is futile.

    "5-0???? no? ok"

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about with that comment.

  • @JohnQRandom the 49ers are 5-0 in the superbowl idiot.

  • @Myzery42

Go to any football thread and announce yourself as a 49er fann then post a comment that says: "5 and 0!!" See if anyone knows what the fuck you're on about. And in any case, who gives a shit?? The Packers are SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS NOW. Stop bragging about how good your team used to be.

  • 3:53 sure wish other players did that to Favre more often - punch him out regardless of whether the whistle has blown or not.

  • the fumble by jerry rice did happen, but Brett Favre could have and probably should've been kicked out of the game for unnecessary roughness. The higlights don't show everything. Golden Boy (at the time) caught a break BIG TIME!

  • young was so fuckin good it almost wasnt fair for the opposition

man you take the top 6 qb's in the league at that time and i dont think any era could match them....... young, favre, elway, marino, aikman and kelly

brees, manning, brady, rodgers, rivers, and roethlisberger(or vick) will have a real hard time matching those boys from the 90's, i'll tell ya that!!!

PS: in the 90's if the chiefs started gannon instead of bono they might have won superbowls

  • Instant replay = 49ers lose.

  • @JohnQRandom

I wouldn't have been surprised if somehow the 49ers would've kept the ball. They were always getting crap calls.

  • Brett Favre's career after this game was never the same

  • Classic!!

  • 8:16 did he say "they've beaten the chinks?" I'm about to pull out a can-a-whoop-ass

  • no, he said they've beaten the jinx.@Kooscoose

  • @Kooscoose i think he said jinks because the 49ers couldn't beat the packers in the playoffs in previous years

  • That was a horrible call!!! Holy crap!!

  • i'm glad we have instant replay now

  • thank god for instant replay

  • Used to watch these taped primetime highlights for years, this was one of my favorites. Happen to have Rams-Chargers from 2000 when they did the william tell overture?

  • @thekiller678 why u readin what the next muthafucka wrote ? fuckin FAGGOT!!!! go outside and holla at sum hoez pussy azz white boi....

  • good ole days of football...hd was even invented none of that twitter and facebook network bullshit...

  • @suckmydickgurl Why is it bullshit? Youtube wasn't invented either and you seem to be enjoying it.

  • I remember watching this game when I was 8, that was the day I really started loving football and till this day I have never seen a game as exciting as this one. What a great rivalry and a heated game. Im favoriting this for nostalgia. Niners fan btw :).

  • @Fiki2k7 the 9ers need to start winning again the last few seasons have been horrible

  • @trainboy32 I know, I want our old dynasty back : /

  • @Fiki2k7 funny u mention that because it seams that every year ive been a fan of them i have high hopes then slow starts or slow finishes i think ive only see them with 500 or worse records but id like to see the old dynasty i never got to see back

  • Hey, everyone cool it down there!

I'm a Nienrs fan, but I LOVED IT when it was Niners/Cowboys/Packers!

THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS! A GOLDEN ERA!

THREE HOF QBS...AIKMAN VS. YOUNG VS. FAVRE...IN THEIR PRIMES!

AND PAT SUMMERALL AND JOHN MADDEN CALLED ALL THE GAMES!

    :'D

  • and gannon might be considered an alltime great instead of just a QB who had a few great years (he didnt start til such a late age as a starting QB when the raiders gavee him a chance and he took em to a superbowl and won MVP and shit... was a great quarterback... reminds me of warner or brees a bit)

  • @obiwanobiwan13 Do you need to have everything in caps? Also why the fuck do you have exclamation marks after every goddamn sentence? You spelled the word "niners" wrong, which I didn't think was possible and you used that gay ass sideways smiley face thing. Stop all of those things immediately.

  • I love watching these old highlight shows. Berman and Jackson didn't seem as annoying then.

  • fucking amazing rivalry. This was the peak of the NFL for me when i was young

  • This was a great game(I say that even as a Packer fan). I will say that this is the first game when I got really pissed after the Packers lost.

  • The 2 Big Games that i can remember between the 49ers and Packers are the 1998-1999 NFC Wild Card Game and the 1996 Monday Night Football Game that was won in overtime i would love to see these 2 classic games again if somebody has them?

  • THIS SHIT WAS SO EPIC! go niners :P

  • Too bad they didn't have instant replay back then.Rice definitely fumbled, but with some of these NFL refs, you never know.Would have taken some big balls by the ref to call that fumble on Rice in San Fransisco.Even with clear evidence, the chances of Green Bay getting that call would've still been 50/50

  • Oh shut up astrostar49...that was a BLATANT fumble. To try to equate non-calls from games that weren't close (31-21, 35-14, 23-10) versus an OBVIOUS fumble on the game winning drive...you are a homer of the worst order. You're probably one of those people who thought SF was better than Atlanta even though they beat you twice too. Jackass.

  • @cbaldwinjr shut up hater

  • @BALAS187

Truth sucks don't it. Enjoy another 5-11 season with the Smiths...Kaepernick isn't the answer out there.

  • @cbaldwinjr Okay dumbass because I said it wasn't a fumble? My lord your reading comprehension is garbage.

  • What a sweet niner victory =]] The Packers got away with soooooo much shit against the niners in the 90's. Don Bebe's TD on MNF to mention one....

  • it cracks me up that the pakers fans still can't let this go. That fumble wasn't the end of the world. One of the DB's had a clear chance for an interception a few plays later. Not to mention that TO's catch was only possible because your DB's messed up and left a crease in the prevent defense...which should never happen. tl,dr version: Quit bitching!

  • Go Niners!! Owens he caught it!! Touchdown 49ers!! BYE BYE PACKERS!!

  • @FuryPower ......and how did you do the next week?

  • niners can take this one ,, pack's record vs the whiners is something like 10-1 with the only win being this asterisk laden victory ,, pack in 2010

  • NINERS are coming back so watch out green-bay-fudge-packers

  • @maxstein2011 Too right we are, Alex and Crabtree and Vernon all look like they might be our Next Great Niner Offense with Gore...and all it took was a real leader, Singletary, to knock their heads together a bit and make them play like a real team and real 49ers! I remember this one...the first game I truly remember, I'd just become a Niner fan the year before, I was seven or so, I thought it was all over, about to cry...THIS showed me- for offensive comebacks, NO TEAM DOES IT LIKE THE NINERS!

  • wow i never realized how cute niner fans are

"nothing compared to the several questionable calls that Green Bay has gotten away with in the previous meetings???"

Pretty sure none of the calls you are thinking of would have ended the game like this one

and the refs can influence a game here or there (this game for example) but i dont think they have influenced 6 or 7 of the 6 or 7 that they played and all of them being one sided

  • @theteamname lol yeah kid. cute. lol. cause ALL of them were one sided. they got that way a lot of the time by some of them calls.im not gonna make excues. like i said be happy the pack won them games insted of complaining on 49ers highlights pages. hey go watch the '97 playoff highlights. i don't care.that play happened so fast here the refs blew the call, then the packers blew a coverage....it was a "cute" pass wasn't it. lmao.

  • So I started watching the Packers when I was 5 in 1992. And since then, the niners only beat the Pack once and they needed the refs help to do it.

Seriously everytime the packers play the niners to this day I still treat it as a bye, even in 2006 when the packers were 4-8 and the niners were wild card contenders because it has become so normal for me to see them beat sf

but anyways....Im glad I finally found this vid, I almost forgot how pathetic that call was

  • @theteamnamelol you sound like a raider fan and the "tuck rule "i love how pack fans cant get over one call. be glad the packers won all the other games (bad calls against 49ers and all )i respect for the packs wins. but we got this one. plus they still gave up that insane pass...that never shoulda happened.

  • @theteamname

Good you were watching long enough to remember all the times the Packers needed the refs to beat the Niners. Ohhhh that's right you Packer fans always forget those games huh. Look there was no Instant Replay back then. You know how many teams had calls go against them back then (and still sometime do). It's part of the game. Like Steve Young said, "Yeah it was a lucky call but the Packers still owe us another 4 or 5".

  • @miggizle85 niners got to be good this year man! it's now or never. we got the coach. we got the best linebacker in the game a top 5 RB and TE,two solid young WR's the most underrated saftey in the NFL,if your a niner fan you know who im talkin bout. but is is good to watch and remember the old days. hopefully we get some new things to cheer for soon.

  • @theteamname

A bye week? That's pretty funny I'll admit it. But if you're any kind of real football fan then you know how ridiculous that statement is. On any given Sunday even the 0-16 Detroit Lions coulda beat the 16-0 Patriots. That's just how football is. Look we've sucked bad lately, but don't be so high and mighty. Sooner or later (lookin like sooner rather than later) the Niners will return to promonance and beat the shit outta the Packers again. Till then i gotta watch old videos. lol

  • @miggizle85 Looking like sooner? YOU=FAIL! Have fun with Alex Smith...

  • @BigAlJeff You should probably let the season play out before you you start declaring me=Fail. Talking shit before the season even starts is not prudent.

  • The video and audio are off-sync.

  • ahhh the memories......Niners 2010 babeeee!!

  • too any Packer fan that still crying about how Rice fumbled. Just remember the 97 NFC championship game. The Refs fucked us that whole game.KARMA'S A BITCH!!!!!

  • Best game I've ever watched. 7 lead changes. I miss the good ol' days where the 9ers could make a million mistakes and still win it. And yes Rice fumbled, good thing this happened before instant replay. : )

  • i cant believe brett favre gets away with fighting without a single flag being thrown but if he got touched flahs would've been flying. i will always hate favre, i was so happy we beat him back then, too bad he screwed us in game 3 this year

  • @MarketNewMontgomery love em or hate em, you gotta respect what the man has done for the NFL. I am a Packers Die hard and believe me, watching him kick our butts twice last season stung. But speaking as a lifetime football fan, I respect him. I do not respect the fact that he toys with his teams during the offseason about whether he will come back or not. I hope he does come back this year and we have a chance to sweep the Vikings this year. That would rule!

  • @ballrude I agree with every word of your comment. Couldn't have said it better myself, go pack!

  • This has to be the greatest game I've seen live.

By the way, they should bring back the old-fashioned end zone script. It looks so much cooler than the "modern" crap we got now.

  • Jerry Rice's fumble is nothing compared to the several questionable calls that Green Bay has gotten away with in the previous meetings.

  • yes sir.... gb got away with so many calls over previous meetings... bee bee on monday nite, stokes td taken away from him in 97 title game, culd go on and on

  • @astrostar49

Name ONE "questionable call" that cost the 49ers the fucking game. The Packers owned the 49ers in the plaoffs, and you know damn well the Packers beat them this game as well. Had there been instant replay, the Packers would have moved onto the next game.

  • @JohnQRandom I can name one (although it was from a regular season game) A Packer's knee was down AND he was touched but the Ref allowed him to continue to run for a TD and Chris Jacke booted a feild goal at the end of the game to win it for the Pack

  • how bout the don beebe touchdown during the monday night game in 1996. he was down and touched by hanks i think. cost san fran home field in playoffs. 1997 nfc championship game gary plummer had a fumble return for td. that was ruled down and was a bad call.

  • how bout the don beebe touchdown during the monday night game in 1996. he was down and touched by hanks i think. cost san fran home field in playoffs. 1997 nfc championship game gary plummer had a fumble return for td. that was ruled down and was a bad call.

  • @brodieman267

Home field advantage would have done nothing for the 49ers in 1997. This fumble by Jerry Rice was blatant, and the call was intentionally ignored because the refs felt sorry for you. The Garry Plumber thing I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @brodieman267

B.S. Beebe's play didn't cost the 49ers anything. The Packers were a superior team. And that Plummer play is bogus. I've seen that game multiple times...it was not a fumble! And let's say you get it...the score is 23-17 instead of 23-10. The Packers were just BETTER than San Francisco. Including 1998

  • @cbaldwinjr boys still owned the pack in the 90's

  • @vcrm1 cowgirls suck

  • @SniPerAMeRIcan91 not anymore they don't.

  • @cbaldwinjr They also called off a JJ Stokes TD that game. That makes it 24-23 Niners.

  • @racallibe

Oh God...whatever. So no one except 49er fans thinks the '97 NFC Championship was illegitimate. Kinda makes your bogus assumptions ring hollow. The Packers kicked your asses in '95, '96, and '97...twice on YOUR home turf. And beat you in '98, but the refs took it away. Karma played itself out though...Young was KO'd by Aeneas Williams and the only playoff win you have had since was ANOTHER crap finish, with that P.I. penalty not called against the Giants in 2002. Enjoy the past

  • @JohnQRandom Don Bebe was touched down but was allowed to get up and run 50 yards for a touchdown

  • @mooseclamps

It wasn't the playoffs and it wasn't intentionally missed. The Packers might (probably) have scored on that drive anyway, you don't know. Furthermore the Packers would have beaten the 49ers in the playoffs even if the game was played in Candlestick and many of the the fans attending would have been cheering for Green Bay. The fumble by Rice was right there in front of the ref, and would have immediately ENDED the game, but he blew the call to give San Fransisco another shot.

  • @mooseclamps They would have scored anyway

  • @astrostar49 hahahahaha......we kicked your ass in the previous meetings

  • @BigAlJeff

And then you usually got your asses kicked by Dallas.

  • @astrostar49 green bay got away with murder against the niners in the 90's

  • @astrostar49 green bay owns the niners

  • @astrostar49

Packers are Super Bowl champs, end of discussion.

  • @astrostar49 It's the same, its a missed call that loses a playoff game. The packers have had it rough

  • @astrostar49

A lot of people don't remember the previous year in the playoff, Lee Woodall caused a fumble after hitting William Henderson on a dump off pass to the outside. Gary Plummer returned it 30 some yds for a TD which would've put the Niners up by 3 or 4 pts. But that was called back. Imagine the change that would've made in the play call menu for the Packers had that held up.

  • @astrostar49 Put down the pipe. That was one of the worst calls of all time.

  • @mhadler

I didn't say it was a bad call, I'm just saying it's dumb for Packers fans to bitch about that one call when they've had some help in the prior three or four games leading up to that contest. Maybe if Brett didn't throw two interceptions in that game and Dorsey Levens didn't fumble they wouldn't have been in that position in the first place. There is no shame in admitting the refs helped your team. Happens to every ball club.

  • @astrostar49

There was no help in the prior "three or four games". That's a ridiculous statement.

  • @astrostar49 ...especially when the Packers reaped many calls.

  • @mhadler What's wrong with what he said? Berman was right. The term down the pipe mean he had to stick in into a small area and he did.

  • SUCK IT GREEN BAY!!! 30-27 OWENS OWENS OWENS LOL!!! Let me know when you get your 5th Super Bowl, we got ours 17 years ago suckers.

  • @xaqshuna2003 Unfortunately this TD never happens without a bogus call by the ref's. That's nice that you have 5 SB's. The Packers have more Championships than any team in football. The NFL was around a lot longer than they've been calling it a SB. Oh and one more thing.........you won't see a SB for years. Of course drafting Smith vs. Rodgers might have changed your fortune. Thanks a lot suckers!

  • @mhadler Check out astrostar49's comment above. Can I get a Dorsey Levens fumble, a Don Bebe never got touched, an out of bounds on Freeman, a dropped ball by Chimura... don't even get me started on how many obvious misses the refs had. Don't be mad because LeRoy Butler got destroyed three times on this last drive. Nobody will remember him except those who ran over him and enjoyed it.

  • @xaqshuna2003 False, LeRoy Butler was arguably the best Safety of the 90's.

  • @shorewood2 No way, top 10 ok, but not even arguably the best.

    1) Rod Woodson (PIT)

    2) Darren Woodson (DAL)

    3) Ronnie Lott (SF, OAK, NYJ)

    4) Tim McDonald (SF, PHO)

I could put him at #5, but he wasn't better than those above. Greatest of all-time was Ronnie Lott, but #3 in the 1990s for his last 4 years

  • @xaqshuna2003 1. Rod Woodson played CB for a majority of the decade. 2. Darren Woodson was the most overrated player during that period, there is a reason he didn't even make the All Decade team in the 90's. 3. Ronnie Lott? You mean a guy who played 5 years during that period. 4. Tim McDonald, LMAO.

  • @shorewood2 I'll add another... Aneas Williams. LeRoy Butler came up and made a couple sacks, danced around and everybody goes, "Wow! What an all around safety!" When in reality, he was average in coverage.

  • @xaqshuna2003 Again must be why the voters had him on the All-Decade team voted him to the 1st team. It's hilarious you actually think Tim fucking McDonald was better.

  • @shorewood2 The voters get ansy in their pansy when they see a couple of diving sacks from a safety. Look and pure numbers and effectiveness. LeRoy got beat a lot but nobody ever talks about it because he happen to come up on QB's like an invisible DE.

  • @xaqshuna2003 Whatever dude with your excuses, Butler was a great S who is a borderline HOFer.

  • @shorewood2 I didn't say he wasn't great, but I he's not borderline HOF'er. Hall of Famers are the greatest of the great.

  • @xaqshuna2003 at the time butler retired he had one of the best interception-sack combos of any saftey all time. Since then the game has changed with guys like ed reed and troy polamalu, but butler was the best safety in the league for a span of several years in his own era.

  • @astrostar49 "is nothing" shows how high, or retarded, you are.

  • @trinnylax123

Says the ones who resorts to insults instead of actual insight. I guess that means you lost this debate.

  • @astrostar49 lol okay buddy. too bad it's not a debate.

  • @trinnylax123 Exactly because your argument hold zero weight LOL.

  • @astrostar49 Nah it's pretty evident you're retarded. And that isn't an "insult" it's a measurement of your IQ.

  • i never knew rice fumbled!

  • marc edwards=tom rathmans son

  • dont kid yourself, vikings or the falcons would have crushed the pack. that being said i wish the pack had won, i hate owens.

  • IDK about that it was a wild card game you never know what would have happened. But yeah that was a lame no call.
