Right around 3:00 you can hear someone say "Disiest" [or whatever the name or word is] right before Carol says it...maybe she forgot in that second and the mic picked up someone giving her a reminder from side stage!
For reasons I can't even begin to explain, I woke up with a Carol Channing song in my head this morning, so I sought out information about her. All I knew was her over-the-top self-parodies on Carson and the like. This is truly amazing. I would never have believed this even existed. I'm amazed.
I first saw her do this in 1961 as part of a wonderful revue called Showgirl. She did marlene, Judy, Brigit Bardo, Lynn Fontaine, Tallullah Bankhead and others. She was a wonder - not just the camp figure she was to become.
Absolutely flawless. Carol is so great at just being Carol that it's easy to forget that she can do stuff like this, to totally immerse herself in another character, and bring it off so brilliantly. I've watched Sammy Davis, Rich Little..... but I never laughed as much at them as at Carol destroying the myth of Marlene. I've always loved her -- in fact, I love them both -- but I think I have more respect for carol's talent right now than at any time in the past. Where can I get the DVD?

Finde ich ganz und gar nicht,das sie schlecht Deutsch spricht.Sie spricht doch alles sehr gut verständlich...halt nur mit Akzent.Für jemanden der sonst nie Deutsch spricht macht C.C. das sehr gut.Man sollte nicht immer so schrecklich kritisch ,kleinlich sein und lieber mal der Leistung Anerkennung zollen.....,
