simple, just look for greensmoke stuff in the water and collect it, either by entering portals or finding them anyway. some are on land or very deep in the sea or even in the air (collected by creature shown mainly on video). the more creatures unlocked, the more places you can go.

If you've been trying to attack the tuh'tles and little squid things, you can't eat them.
