  • Bourdain just has such a talent with words. Beautiful.

  • Bourdain is my hero!!!

  • I'm crying now cause I miss Vietnam so much, my beloved country!

  • I am here now in Ho Chi Minh andheaded to Hanoi now...What an incredible country. The Food the people..weather...just beautiful!!! TravelWitSpells

  • Wow, I need to try again, I found Vietnam to be polluted, rat-infested and wet - the rain never stopped. Laos was paradise, absolutley beautiful, sunny and relaxed. Vietnam is go go, noisy, grimy - not a place to rest one's hat.

  • @DeeDonner

Well..that's true in some places..but not all of them are like that....I suggest you going to Ha Long Bay if you have never been there...it's absolutely beautiful!

  • im a javanese singaporean and when i went hanoi a few months back, i fell in love it the whole culture! i love vietnamese cuisine(bt im a muslim so i dont eat pork or food that isnt halal), i love the place, and most of the people are incredibly nice..

looking forward to be back there again, if i have the chance. hanoi i love u! :)

  • @wednesdayblues88 hanoi's welcome u

  • I am a Vietnamese person and I am so proud of that.

  • Well put Anthony! I eat my way around the world since I was 6 traveling with my folks. The best street foods ? Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Belgium, France, Italy,Indonesia so far...

  • His description of getting off the plane is exactly what happens to me every time. And then of course the tears flow nonstop every time I'm in the airport getting on the plane to go back home. I'm so glad that other people share that same visceral reaction that there are never enough words to describe :]

  • Thanks Anthony for visiting, loving Vietnam <3....all he saids ...that all so true, he pretty understands Vietnam n the culture better than some of the kids who actually was born and raising in Vietnam, know nothing bout their own country...

  • @ryanphan1211 because this is a TV program... my friend

  • viet nam is a wonderful country,

    great people, and amazing food.

    we all love this place.

    why would anyone think differently?

  • Same happend to me!! On a return trip to Hanoi, we went w/ a cab into Hanoi and when I see again, how the vietnamese are. i had tears in my eyes!! So awesome! I miss Viet Nam!

  • i know why this guy loves vietnam. Pho, beautiful scenery, and cheap girls.

  • Thank You TONY BOURDAIN.

  • Hey Anthony, if you need a translator, iam the person

  • @genius476 Hey, that is good to know. I was reading the US State department and the Vietnamese embassy site, and I thought I saw 1 month. Care to post the link please. Thanks.

  • I assume that Bourdain will need to get a business or investment visa if he actually wants to move to Vietnam for a year because a tourist visa is only for a month. He also will need his wife's approval. I'm not sure which one is more difficult to get.

  • Vietnam loves you too Anthony Bourdain!!

  • 8 of us guy went to VN in 2008..I was the lone VNmese. A month later when we left, we all decided that we would go back next year with more friends. 2 of my buddies cried because they felt like they were treated so well. VNmese people are very friendly and more welcoming of foreigners than in China. You never understand until you get there..the energy in Saigon is crazy! Forget Wolfgang Puck and all this crazy trend about pan-asian cooking..VNmese food is that for over 150 years!

  • Vietnam does that to people, it's just the layback way of life, and the genuine humanistic quality that keep foreingers and VK flocking back

  • Anthony, Vietnam loves you too.

  • Vietnam stole my heart too. Was there last month and will try to go again next year.

  • Going back there again in 8 week.... Why because i fell in love with the country

Even looking in to buying a buisness there...

The food, the people, the hustle and bustle........ lovw it all

  • i love Vietnam too.

  • @quysweat we also made a bunch of these people comment positive on this video. ;)

  • Moving there next Summer.

  • hey guys, just look about the positive. The past is yesterday, let it goes.

  • @theartofluv Dude, have you read your last comments b4 you post your 2nd ?

  • What he said is true. Just ask any foreigner who has been to vietnam about vietnam.

  • @Zenxiao44 : when you insult someone or something, you hear it first. and just take a look at your channel, i can see lots of people agree about what you are. oh and that, trying to go against history fact is not smart at all, at least be more creative next time

  • Hi Anthony. i think you are a great man with a big heart, i am not living in Vietnam, but every time i watch your vedio, i feel you are a great man , i love you! when you come to Hongkong, please let me know , Thanks Anthony.

  • VN is beautiful and It would be more beautiful and develop if there wasn't the VC ruin it. Without the VC, VN today would be better than the South Korea, Thailand or others. Unite and Fight for Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights for VN today.

  • @TheSkybender : I agreed with you.

  • lol we all know why Anthony loves Vietnam, and it ain't for the food... *wink*

  • Why he loves Vietnam?i want to know^_^

  • For the Strategy. . .after VN war ! Many Vietnamese people got out to go all over the world. Dmtau was the same ways ! But before 1975 not easey to see any Vietnamese out there ! War always next to poor, but with Vietnamese, special the North VN people. .We can die but don't want to go out.. . . .prove in1945!

  • @missn74: please share your thoughts but refrain from using offending language. i'll remove comments that are provocative.

  • @myviewz

    I second that.

  • Vietnam really makes me happy. I cried when I left Vietnam on the airplane.

  • so proud

  • thank you anthony....

  • Anthony Bourdain, thanks!

  • What he said absolutely sums up what i feel about vietnam. Amazing country - friendly ppl, great culture. I think its gna be at least 2 more years until my 2nd visit.

What makes this video more special is that it comes form a westerner.

  • "What makes this video more special is that it comes form a westerner. "

Yes, because we all need approval from the white man in order to feel good about ourselves *thumbs up*

  • no..if you always proud of who you are & ur identity, what ur culture has to offer to the world, there shoudn't be any trace of thoughts in those negetive things nor.... you need someone elseto validate what u love...

  • *sarcasm*

  • how so?

  • wow...nevermind..

  • thought so...

  • Thought what? Ironically your comment has no thought whatsoever, not to mention the fact that you are so dense that you are incapable of understanding sarcasm, EVEN when I point it out to you. It isn't even funny at that point, it's like explaining something to a three year old

  • i still don't get it.....

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • @takadi :lighten up dude...not everyone is suffering from inferior complex like you..its just nice to hear compliments from others whether they're blacks, whites, reds or whatever... take a chill pill.

  • @soyamon

    haha don't project on me

  • im vietnamese ^^!

  • that was beautiful, what he said.

  • what he says about Vietnam is really true. plus Vietnam has the best street food in Asia... in the whole world to be honest. Chinese, French influence mixed in with local Vietnamese cooking you end up with the best cuisine in the world in my opinion. I'm not even Vietnamese but I love their food.

  • I like your answer. Might I ask what nationality are you? I am just curious that's all.

  • gota add they are very optimistic.. dam they smile a lot ^^

  • @denisefan : LOVE YOU

  • @denisefan

    yeah, in your opinion...

i'm Vietnamese but i would refrain from using phrases such as "best in the world" to describe the food of any country....

cuz when u say it, most people will think of u as being biased, ignorant or even offending!

  • @denisefan

You'd better stop saying Vietnamese foods are influenced by French. I'm just sick of it. Every country in the world now makes "baguette" (bread) or sandwich not just Vietnam.

  • Comment removed

  • @KatiushaVN4

You're really naive if you don't believe that the French made an impact on Vietnamese cuisine. Do you seriously believe that even after all the years of French colonization they didn't make a significant impact? Also, of course almost every country in the world makes bread, but not every country makes baguettes. To me, it seems that you're too much of a nationalist that you refuse to believe that the Western world helped define Vietnamese cuisine. Don't be ignorant, Just accept it

  • @djneilatik

List one single thing (not so-called sandwich) that Vietnamese cuisine get influenced by French. Don't be a fool. You don't understand a thing about Vietnamese people. They're so conservative not to learn from their enemy.

And I assume you're an foolish American, so you'd better stop barking across the Pacific ocean for everyone's sake

  • @KatiushaVN4 and @djneilatik name-calling and provocative comments are removed. Please be educational and courteous in your replies.

  • @KatiushaVN4, it's true, though. If you want proof, how about bánh cuốn? Bánh cuốn is a Vietnamese style crepe. You seriously need to stop being so ignorant and do your research.

  • @denisefan I love Vietnamese food too, but not too sure about "best street food in asia" - there are so many epic contenders - India, Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand - how can anyone choose? :-D

  • Wow... I've been watching Anthony's to Vietnam now for the past 2 hours. I must say, thanks for Anthony for coming and showing everyone how Vietnam is in its true colours.

Near the end he was talking about how in love he was with Vietnam. Its a place of passion, love and great ppl. Why did you Think the French stayed for many many years.

  • @kcirexox

"place of passion, love, great ppl" all of it sounds very nice...

but unfortunately those things wasn't the reason why the French stayed for many many years

wood, rubber, oil, silver, iron, gold and other natural resources were the real reasons why they stayed for "many many years"! =)

  • Thank you Anthony.
