Since you only get 5 more notes, you can lower your strings. You gain 5 notes and lose 5 that you obviously never use in the same song. I think there's also an effect out there to lower your tone without lowering your strings. 5 strings are overrated...

Something that I found about the SRX505 is that it has massive sweet spots for pinch harmonics. Basically turn the tone up, actives off, and switch to bridge pickups, and tap the string with your finger where the harmonics are (like a thumb slap but with your finger). There are about six between the bridge and the 24th fret. If that's the Ibanez fat head pedal, use attack 1, and boots the treb. You'll be amazed at what what particular bass can do...

Harmonics are best heard on D & G... Bestluck!
