  • This is a lot of banal waffle, there is so much goodwill towards Fry that he gets away with it, but it isn't funny or clever.

  • @Danazawa If he's not your Cup of Tea then thats fair enough, we can't all be into the same thing. But I think a reason why he has so much goodwill is because lot of what he says, especially on his Views about Religion and very open-minded opinions about a lot of other things, a great deal of Pople agree with. Not to mention his gentlemanly way of expressing his opinions which People relate to. He's nto loudmouthed or anything, which People respect.

  • It's comforting to see someone who's a lot more successful in life than me who still hasn't managed to keep his hair from looking silly.

  • *LUVS Stephen Fry*

  • Love this guy.

  • thank you for uploading this, truly

  • Am I the only one who got a bit annoyed when that woman at the beginning described him as "frollick-some"?

  • he is amazing at accents

  • except for geordie

  • This was awesome

  • I was at this, it was epic.

  • music at the beginning anyone?

  • @BlueinGreen2 No thank you it has some already.

  • @speebyda Mate that was a really witty and pithy comment - have you ever considered taking up stand-up comedy, perhaps just as an aside? Maybe you could get Mr Fry to offer you some work experience?

Does anybody who doesn't have Cri du Chat want to make a suggestion as to what the music at the beginning of the programme may be?

  • @speebyda OK so your comment has not only got 'deservedly ignored' but marked as spam and, to put the cherry on top, deleted. Normally I wouldn't retaliate to avoid experiencing a similar humiliation however I feel it necessary to say the following:

  • @speebyda

    1) Cri du Chat syndrome involves a deletion of part of chromosome 5, not the removal of multiple chromosomes.

    2) Its main clinical manifestation is severe mental retardation with an average IQ of less than 20. Therefore by referencing it in my reply was absolutely inferring you were 'dim' or 'stupid' by association. I did not call you a 'retard' or a 'spaz'.

    3) By failing to comprehend the above you don't help your argument against this inference.

  • @speebyda

    4) In future please answer YouTube queries sensibly and stop wasting people's time.

    Regards.

  • It's about time this man was knighted...

  • @Concordski101 I thought he can't be knighted, because he has a minor criminal record? Is that a thing?

Although some people say he was offered, but rejected it.

  • @Concordski101 This man far outranks the Queen, honestly.

  • what gibbering, slobbering, complete and utter asses disliked this vid? homophobic hairy fuckers.

  • inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbocity rofl wtf

  • wow, this man is amazing - you need a dictionary just to listen to him speak!

I wish I had half the vocabulary he does!

  • Stephen saying "Shut the fuck up" is simply the most charmingly hilarious thing I've ever heard.

  • I love this man.

  • @PhilipvKlaassen Me too!!

  • @Eriam92 You obviously don't know much about Stephen Frey to say hes an egotist. You need to watch is documentary on Manic Depression. He isnt full of himself, in fact quite the opposite... a lot of the time he doesn't like himself very much and hears his own voice in his head telling him he's worthless...

  • @celtickiwi11 Can't believe I spelt his name wrong. its FRY.

  • Im from Melbourne and hes right, Sydneysiders are a bunch of wankers

  • amazingly intelligent and witty man, whoever disliked go and vomit and pour it in to your own eye balls.

  • ahaha am I the only one that laughs when he says "crap?"

  • Which A-Hole clicked the 'dislike' button? Find him and beat him.

  • @jpp44345 That disliker just needs a damn good thrashing.

  • Fo let me introduffffe. :P

  • HOLY CRAP!

  • what is paramater?

  • @13baldjj he's playing on words: he's talking about "para matter" (as a parallel form of matter, I guess); but also "Paramatta" is the name of a region in Sydney .... which of course made the Sydney audience happy! :)

  • @kitukidogo thanks:)

  • Hands up if you were thrilled to be there! *waves hands, arms, tentacles in frantic enthusiasm*

  • Millions out of work and a woman with a lisp gets a public speaking job at the Sydney Opera House introducing Stephen Fry.

Makes you want to punch James Cordon in the face. >:oB

  • @p3rs0nan0ngrata Well, she doesn't usually have a lisp. (And being there on the night and hearing her unmediated through the microphone it certainly wasn't evident at the time). It must be the sound system.

  • @RoryM92 Haha, seems like a daft question I know. I was just wondering if he didn't want to name drop so he abbreviated it or something... Sounds daft now...

  • Do you think 'Clark' is Clarkson?

  • I, for one, was certainly inebriated by the exuberance of Mr. Fry's verbosity.

  • Who is the lispy woman? She can hardly breathe properly

  • QI is (originally at least) *BBC not ABC

  • 9:30 to say hello..... only stephen....

  • Why is homosexuality a tag?

  • @KannibalKorpz666 several reasons. Stephen may talk about it at some point. He is. He is a gay icon. This is on the back of his role in 'Wilde".

  • If you could combine James Earl Jone's voice and Mr. Fryer's brain, you'd have someone I could mellow out to all day. I don't know if mellow is the word. Someone I could center on and be fasinated with blocking out anything else. It would be like breathing satiny, sauna air while sweating. / I just woke up and logged on to this! Every cell in my brain is knocking on it's side fellow yelling, "WAKE UP!" This is important!! :) Very kind to share Sam. I envy anyone who was there. When?

  • @Songsmirth Oh, it's only in the title. lol As I said, I'm just waking up. :) Wish he would come to Montana to speak.

  • hehe his hair is strained around his eyebrows in the start of the video. Looks like an unibrow ! ;-) Stephen is awesome!

  • WOO! ON THE BALL CI'Y :D

  • "you sold out to the bloody french"

  • "if i am in the middle of a joke or at the end of a punch line, eh, shut the fuck up"

    great

  • one dislike? forever alone...

  • What a lovely opening

  • Reminds me so much of Oscar Wilde lol Gotta love Stephen Fry.

  • STEPHEN FRY IS MY GOD

  • @Krazysnerd as an atheist im not sure if he would like that

  • i'll say the same as many others but bless for the upload

  • I like how he has a vague idea of what he's doing but he has so much knowledge he can pluck the stuff he needs out of thin air.

  • "I'll be inebriated with the exuberance of my own verbosity" Hearing this man speak is so satisfying. I only wish I could speak as eloquently as he does. I wonder what one must do to learn how to speak like that. It seems to come so naturally to him. :) Ty for sharing.

  • @Eiram92 11:55: "Instead of television, I had reading."

  • @Eiram92 Eloquence and articulation are very important, however I feel that a lot of the time Stephen is massaging his own ego rather than trying to entertain his discip..er.....followers.

If you think about his upbringing and background, the way he speaks now is just a pretence. At some point he's sat down with a dictionary and thesaurus and set out on a mission to imitate Oscar Wilde.

I am a fan of Mr Fry, although I occasionally cringe when he disappears up his own bottom.

  • All through the introduction, I was going: Your inflating his ego. It's big enough. XD

Though, I do love the guy. (Platonic.)

  • too bad Jennifer Byrne is a complete idiot.

  • Oh, how I wish I were here!

  • I've wanted to watch this for so long. You are a wonder!

  • He is the only non Australia how can do an ozzie acent good.

  • boring

  • Only 7000 views. Blasphemy !

Stephen Fry is legendary. One of a kind.

  • I've been wanting to see something like this forEVER- my 'SQUEE' must have woke the neighbors! Thanks so much for posting!!!

  • he says he's not a stand up comedian but he manages to pull natural laughter out of me like no other person! he's just so difficult not to love

  • His rant about how the Australians sold themselves out to the French and the 'metre': 15:00

    Absolute brilliance. XD

  • I do like this guy but man this is boring at the beginning

  • 10:25-10:35 awesome. So true, I didn't realise.

  • One of my favorite people on the planet.

  • @pistachioguy Ahem...if he is not your favourite....firing squad for you...

  • "Poverty Row" LOL!

  • The back of my Wodehouse quotes: "You don't analyse such sunlit perfection, you just bask in its warmth and splendour." by sir Stephen Fry.

    *hugging myself (and the book)*

  • Must have heard Stephen speak about his journey to Cambridge a million and one times now

never get bored of hearing it
