hello, sir. here's a notion from one who has enjoyed a couple of experiences like your tour in a few countries: have *two* free days among a 10 day tour.. or one almost full free day (with breakfast and dinner, so stories can be shared afterward) and perhaps a half-day or two in areas you are familiar with. Suggestions can be made toward their independent activities in advance on free days. Maybe acquire pay-go cell phones for the free days, assigned to each person if they get 'lost' in the mix?

I was amazed the entire six months I was in the country by people's friendliness. It's not completely unselfish though... younger folks like to practice their English. ;)

@Trashjack101 You should always WAIT for the ENGINE to warm up. Regardless whether your throttle is smooth or not. Be thankful that your carb helps you to know when the engine is ready. Too many people start and go.....it's one of the worst things you can do to an engine.

@13mordeth Not necessarily true, upper moderate to heavy loads on a cold engine are bad for it. However, the sooner the engine can reach operating temperature the better. This is why Volvo recommends starting, achieving normal idle speed, and then going lightly/normally. That being said, each engine has it's own operating characteristics - my car will be at temp in 1 mile down to -15F, my bike (injected BMW) has to warm up above 40F, below 40F it's fine, my truck(GMC) takes 1hr or 14 miles @ 32F

You only need to wait 30 seconds to a minute before pulling away. You just need to be gentle with it for the first 5 - 10 miles.

@Trashjack101 M13 is right (who knew eh? lol), but until your engine has a couple of minutes to push the oil around and make sure it's all nicely lubed up (ah, that's why M13 knows so much :P), the engine can get damaged through over use. This is why people who do revving videos with a cold bike are stupider than cheese & chicken.
