@kwag4 If either the fire alarms are activated or a switch is activated on the main floor, the elevator will park on the ground floor and can only be controlled by someone with a fire key ;-)

This was the only one in the building. The building is older than other ones on campus. The only other elevator that requires a key is at the dormitory.

How interesting, but in the case of the dormitory using a keyed access elevator, I could understand, to prevent criminals from trespassing and commiting a crime.

All external entrances to the dorm are locked 24/7, requiring an RFID card for access.
