theyre good in snow and ice. not in mud. think of it this way, you get more pressure with smaller surface area, so on ice, a 5000 pound truck will have more pounds per square inch on the tires if they are skinnier. wider tires spread the weight across larger surface, just think of cleats in the dirt. ice piks on the bottoms of shoes, and studded tires, the smaller surface area increases grip by decreasing size. (width) wider is better for normal and mud driving (depending on tread pattern) FTW
