Don Draper never seems to know when to leave. Your ironic cross cutting to a great version of this song is appreciated by these sad eyes. Among the various Broadway and West End versions of "Knowing When to Leave," Jill O'Hara's (the original NYC cast) can be found on YouTube and is quite wonderful ... and like other cast recordings should be absorbed as an element in Promises Promises dramatic arc, not as stand along pop performance. Thanks.
@TheFinch61 Indeed. So in love with her voice and always wish she were still with us... just imagine seeing her perform live! I would have loved to hear her voice, singing in person.
@tlw1950 Hi! It's actually a Burt Bacharach song and it's part of a medley The Carpenters recorded, not sure which album it's from... but on 'The Essential Collection' I have from iTunes, it's called '1980 Medley'.
@klaratava Hi! Thanks! I know the song is from Promises, Promises, but I have to find the Carpenters' version. I'll look up The Essential Collection on CD! Gracias otra vez!
This is really clever, just love your choices of video to compliment the song,Diana was a princess and an angel, and Karen of course was an angel who happened to possess just about the most heavenly sounding voice in the universe, reckon they would have really got on together if they had met up,both beautiful genuine... mis- understood souls,in our hearts forever.... thank you.
@jonnykk2 Thank you :) I'm glad you liked the interpretation and I completely agree about Karen Carpenter - and I thought Diana's story just seemed liked a good (and sad) fit for the song.
J Dilla is one of the greatest hip hop producers ever lived. Check out 'Happiness' by Slum Village, where he uses The Carpenter sample. Also check out J Dilla, may not be your cup of tea, but the guys a genius with an amazing musical ear. Enjoy.

I love this incredibly spare arangement of musicians. Disappointed with Chenowich's interpretation. Not nearly as good as Jill Hayworth in the 60's/

yeah I love this version! The Carpenters rock! Just sorry I couldn't discover them until after Karen's passing (but I am only 29 years old)
