The Home Depot here in Leominster (MA) was always like that. They ripped the systems out. Now, they have them again. I don't remember what brand the old ones were, but they always ended with a breakdown/failure.
The NCR ones were always easy to use, and everything was where it needed to be. Unfortunately these units are being replaced by the IBM ones, which are a headache to use.
This is great... If you find a store that has Fujitsu/Optimal Robotics, I would love to see them. I actually happened to be in a Shaws last time I was in Maine and it too had NCR self scanners running on their IBM point of sale, though Optimal/Fujitsu has always been my favorite.
The cash register scan beep is actually being used on some of the new THYSSENKRUPP elevator floor indicators. Maybe it will become the replacement for the DOVER BUZZ.
But I found one elevator with Impulse from 1980, because since know the UT Elevator Project Manager very well, he said that Dover Impulse came out in 1980-1981.
Okay, so the Otis Series 1 came out in 1982, Dover Impulse came out in 1980, and Schindler MT came out when Westinghouse was bought out in 1989. With that said, when did the Montgomery Vector come out?
i just typed in a supermarket out of randomness and this popped up, not to be an asshole but why do people take vids in self checkouts?

I know. I go so fast, it can't keep up. :)
I don't know how many times it failed to register a press, because I went too fast.
Still, I like these a lott\ better than the IBM ones, far more straightfoward.

@CaptainElevator42189
NEXPAR recorded new TK's that have that beep. It is better then their drawn out "Dover Buzz".
georgef551 1 year ago
Yes, I too have a video of a ThyssenKrupp with the beep, and I too agree the Dover BUZZ is becoming outdated.
CaptainElevator42189 1 year ago
@CaptainElevator42189
23 years of the buzz is long enough. The classic buzz didn't last very long. Glad the elevator at Leominster City Hall still has it.
georgef551 1 year ago
Actually, some early Dover Impulse fixtures did have the BUZZ, so it was more like 30 years of BUZZ!
CaptainElevator42189 1 year ago
@CaptainElevator42189
How far did Impulse go? Earliest ones I've found were from 1989.

@CaptainElevator42189
Makes me wonder which came first, Impulse, or Otis Series-1. Earliest one of those I found was 1982.

No idea.
Early 90's? Earliest ones I've seen were 1990.
georgef551 1 year ago
Maybe 1988 was the earliest for Vector fixtures, and it's too bad they were not ADA compliant, even though the buttons rivaled to Dover Impulse.
CaptainElevator42189 1 year ago
@CaptainElevator42189
I found quite a few Vectors that were ADA Compliant. Granted, it was more the exception than the rule.
Those are in abundant supply over here.
I got to look up when these all debuted (sp?).
georgef551 1 year ago
Wow, that is very interesting.
