The chasers that chase for the science likely don't take such chances, because they are chasing dollars, not to say some them never have There is a chance that for profit chasers will be in a position to call in a conditions when the local spotters are aren't out. Trying to pass traffic going up several hills is extremely dangerous. FYI more people die in car wrecks than tornadoes. Sean and his team do this for a living. They've put years in to this project, and not only that, but they DEPEND on it. A minor slip-up and you post this on the internet for attention. This "just business" attitude is false. If it were "just business," you would have contacted Sean DIRECTLY with the video and voiced your opinion privately. The driving wasn't even that aggressive (speaking as a war veteran, I know a thing or two about aggressive driving). They had more than enough maneuver time.
In Sean's defense, from the footage in Storm Chasers, as soon as he realised what his driver (sorry, forgot his name) was doing he was yelling repeatedly to "Get back into the traffic". However, that doesn't excuse the team's behaviour. They know they did wrong, and admit it. Shocked to see the driver over took on a hill! That really is god damned dangerous, and you'd think being a medic he'd know better...

@santa3fe In case you didn't know, Reed shoots probes into Tornadoes that records certain scientific data points of the Tornado. The data the Reed collect's is then turned over to research scientist who analyze the data and put it into models to simulate situations like a Tornado entering a city like, idk, JOPLIN or TUSCALOOSA where many people died in 2011. With this data, Meteorologist have a better understanding of a given situation and WILL be able to save lives.
@santa3fe Reed puts his own life on the line to collect data that could one day fill a gap of the unknown and save many lives, and who knows, maybe you or your loved ones (boy, wouldn't you feel like a jackass), and out of all Reeds footage I've never seen him recording or taking pictures of someones destroyed house, or someone weeping over something they lost that meant dearly to them. So I wouldn't think you would get the opportunity to act like a hard ass toward him.

@Hemi4127 You do realize that they also have medical training and if a tornado were to cross into a town they would have to stop chasing the storm and Aid emergency personnel in recovering victims and treat them if their injuries aren't seviere and emergency vehicles can not reach them due to downed powerlines, debris ect ect.

I wish people could follow simple rules of the road. We get some bad storms most every afternoon in the summer. Nothing like getting behind some morons going 25mph side by side on a 65mph road(US27 4 lane w/median) with the hazards on- WTF. Get off the road or at least get in the right lane! In my town, we have legally blind 80+ people driving around because they get 5 years between eye checks. They go 20mph in no passing zones and stack 20 cars behind them- I need a dash cam.

Sean and his team do this for a living. They've put years in to this project, and not only that, but they DEPEND on it. A minor slip-up and you post this on the internet for attention. This "just business" attitude is false. If it were "just business," you would have contacted Sean DIRECTLY with the video and voiced your opinion privately. The driving wasn't even that aggressive (speaking as a war veteran, I know a thing or two about aggressive driving). They had more than enough maneuver time.

In Sean's defense, from the footage in Storm Chasers, as soon as he realised what his driver (sorry, forgot his name) was doing he was yelling repeatedly to "Get back into the traffic". However, that doesn't excuse the team's behaviour. They know they did wrong, and admit it. Shocked to see the driver over took on a hill! That really is god damned dangerous, and you'd think being a medic he'd know better...

@santa3fe In case you didn't know, Reed shoots probes into Tornadoes that records certain scientific data points of the Tornado. The data the Reed collect's is then turned over to research scientist who analyze the data and put it into models to simulate situations like a Tornado entering a city like, idk, JOPLIN or TUSCALOOSA where many people died in 2011. With this data, Meteorologist have a better understanding of a given situation and WILL be able to save lives.

@sleek462 really thought the whole reason they built that truck was to shoot video of the inside of a tornado,the data collecting equipment was added later,his whole goal was to get the imax film. they failed to act as expected of them as storm chasers. But these guys regularly incite panic and lose their cool but its okay becuase their on tv right? those little guy spotters is what started the entire information gathering system. the "pros" getting there wouldnt have helped anyone

I wish people could follow simple rules of the road. We get some bad storms most every afternoon in the summer. Nothing like getting behind some morons going 25mph side by side on a 65mph road(US27 4 lane w/median) with the hazards on- WTF. Get off the road or at least get in the right lane! In my town, we have legally blind 80+ people driving around because they get 5 years between eye checks. They go 20mph in no passing zones and stack 20 cars behind them- I need a dash cam.

Storm chasers do not have the right to cut off drivers and impeed on trafic laws. Where are the police at why arnt they giving out tickets to these storm chassers. They look like they will cause more harm then good

@divernick100 LOL? I disagree with this driving, but without storm chasers 10x as many people would have died as a result of too late tornado warnings. They saved lots of lives, so they do more good than harm!

Your standard of living is on par with some of our worst slums so why would we want to be like you? I wouldn't be proud that people drive like that and don't demonstrate even a shred of civility down there. If having laws that promote civility makes us pussies that's fine.
