I own a '97. Bought it used for $900. Has 216000 miles on it and doesn't use any oil and gets 30-35 mpg highway. Not a lot of power for steep grades, though.
I had a '97 'Champagne' Grand Am with the 2.4L Twin Cam engine, and I loved it. The most reliable car I've ever owned. Hearing this one start up brings back memories, especially that whistle that it makes as the RPM's fall past 1500. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
My 96 sunfire Gt has one of these with a 5 spd and let me tell you that thing is freaking fast

find a 2.4 in chevy, buick, grand am
i like the buick one better cause it has a japanese trans that has a lot of torque
the trans fits a 3.1 or 2.4
