  • love this

  • Mr. Lang and Johnson on guitars it sounds like

  • Satchmo was incredible when he was young.

  • Louis Armstrong's work during the 1920s was his best in my opinion.

  • @knothead15

The excellent "dippermouth blog" makes a good case for Louis being just as masterly in the post-war period with The All-Stars. The blog is by Ricky Riccardi, the Archivist at the Louis Armstrong House Musejum in Queen's, NY. The blog gives detailed Louis-stories from the 1920s onwards with many 'live' audio samples, plus photos and videos.

Mr Riccardi has just had an entertaining new book published all about Louis's post-war career, 'What a Wonderful World' (see blog for details).

Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five

    December 13, 1927, Chicago, IL

    ie, Hot Five plus one!

Michael Minn: "This is the final recording session with the "classic" Hot Five lineup (plus Lonnie Johnson). Hereafter, the "Hot Five" would be whoever Armstrong happened to be recording with."

  • great song

  • Is this the greatest pop recording by anyone, ever?

  • i would call it jazz more than pop, but if u like this look up west end blues by armstrong, its amazing

  • It is jazz, of course, but it's pop in the broad sense that it's not classical or traditional music.

  • Oh boy, those golden notes. Make me smile every time!

  • @phyllodendron what do you mean, golden notes? I'm sure many people didn't understand your comment, like me and just didn't bother asking :P

  • Hey Hein, you're right again, thanks.

    Greetings

    Ed.
