I am not sure, - but as a Norwegian I recognize the word Seidr which is also in Islandic for sure - perhaps in other Scandinavian languages as well - means spell and the brew that was made by the volvens during the ages of the Vikings. A volven was a sacred woman and as much hold in respect and importance as the prophetess i Delfi in Greece.
