They should've had ladders up to begin with.  Kind of a slow response and there were not evacuation tones or air horns. If you're on the roof, you GOTTA have an escape route close by. They did a good job getting to the wall, but it could have turned out very bad if the trusses had pulled the top of the wall back in on them.

Ventilation may help victims trapped in the building by allowing smoke and hot gasses to rise and escape and bringing in fresh cooler air which allows better visibilty.

Also for the above reasons, it can help a hose team get to the fire.

Yes, lacrosse, the building ultimately may be lost and torn down.

You try to detect any roof failure and get to safer areas if necessary.

lacrossetechnology....you dont have a clue why "U.S." firefighters do that.....its called ventilation to get rid of all the heat, smoke and bad gases for the hose team. The firefighter that noticed the roof collapse is a BAD ASS fireman and well respected for a damn good reason. Show truck 10 some resepct and admire what they do and how they GIT R DONE!
