I love Cyndi, but dont go there - who is Madonna? WELL, she is the "Most Successful Female Recording Artist Of All Time", with estimated worldwide album and single sales of 275 Million - The Guinness World Records backs that up.

I imagine that alveaus is simply saying (and it's true) that madonna is not a singer who can pack an emotional wallop as powerful as cyndi does here. that is as much of a fact as m's sales stats. even her most fervent admirers admit that it's not madge's powerhouse voice that draws them into her camp. if guiness stats float YOUR boat, fine. but that's hardly everything. most of my favorite artists sell nowhere near as much as any of the people you cite. many greats don't. there's art &commerce.
