Yeah rvrman19 makes a good point. In 5th gen Soak turns your opponent to the water type so basically he can't attack since he won't have any water STABs

@ArmorLizard None specifically, but I'm hoping that by forcing people to spell a 6-letter word, they'll have limited options on a few letters and find that a UU poke may have better team synergy than any OU counterpart due to the attacking restrictions.

Which I suppose will just lead people to find the most broken words instead =/ but we'll see.

I think banning it would just make things easier and prevent arguments more than anything. I suppose it would be fine to let a guy still use his moves as its not HIS fault he's suddenly changed type, but I'm sure people are going to disagree about that.

About the rules: what about Knock Off? Like Rapid Spin it's never used for the damage, it's more like an "utility attack".

@5090441 Xerxes is going to reply definitively, but I guess I'll give an in-depth explanation before that.

With Rapid Spin, balance was the whole idea. With no idea to block hazards (aside from Taunt), they would be extremely broken. A Skarm or a Forretress could basically mean you play the rest of the game losing 1/4 HP and getting Poisoned. While a few people want to abuse that, it's really just much easier to fix it with an easy solution like Rapid Spin.

@5090441 The point is, Knock Off is really just a minor move; it doesn't completely change the tiers and how people build teams. If it isn't allowed non-STAB, that's my explanation for why.

@Filympe If PO is the ONLY thing you have, its probably not going to work. Maybe on other people's channels it would fly but most of the people here are WiFi only... and I've had to decline the same way to 2-3 other people so far too.

Its more of an option to use if WiFi is being dumb rather than the intended platform for play itself.

Must ALL moves be STAB only? So could non-Rock type Pokemon use Stealth Rock? Or only attacking moves? Can non-Normal-type Pokemon use Normal-type offensive moves?

@tgva8889 SR isn't an attack, so thats fine on anything which would learn it. STAB relates to Attack Bonus and thus only applies to attacking moves. If they want to WoW or Agility or SR or Sub or Leech Seed or whatever, thats fine. Counter/Coat are allowed still, Rapid Spin, Knock off are all getting exceptions. SToss/Nightshade are not.

Xerxes, the way I've done it losses don't help your tiebreakers(at least in the initial tiebreaker). The idea is a loss to someone good should not help you. Is this just chess or something?

@ThomasMichaelMusic Its not a problem to play on PO, but I would say players shouldn't be limited to ONLY using simulators, most people are going to use WiFi.

5th gen doesn't mean only 5th-pokes... just using the 5th gen game.

Locked by whatever time it is somebody plays their first match. Whether thats Friday or Sunday just depends on when they play.
