i can remember that perch virus takeing out all the perch in my local pond thats not there anymore the morley dam the bodys some massive perch showed up on the bank was really sad
If the fish are agressive, isn't that a boring way to fish..setting up the rod on a hi tech stand and sitting? why not burn the lines to make it more exciting/challenging?
@MonoRacer I would never ever kill a perch, Im a true Catch & Release fisher : ) Fishing is just for fun, not for the eating part. My biggest perch was, or is because it is still alive, 52cm. Try to fish with live/dead bait, then will the bigger one come! Good luck ; )
I prefer spinning for perch (and rest of predators) but my biggest perch was catched with a match rod and bait was a kind of smaller night crawler(earthworm? lobworm?). It was (perch, not worm! :D ) 40cm, polish record is about 55cm.
But spinning/lure fishing is my fav. Even small perch is a great fighter whe u're using ultra-light spinning rod, small reel and tiny line (eg 0,12mm)
i just use any sort if worm that i can find in the garden or grass heap and they all work well for me, ive had big perch on small worms and vice versa
yep had my best on lobs, they love um. If you go to a wet lawn in the pitch black of night in the summer and be quiet, omg you can get lobs the size of pythons loland shit me they are fast and hard to catch sometimes, ive seen worms that i thought was a grass snake on my garden at night lol. Use one of those big babys and expect a large perch! :o)
yea ive gone worm hunting on the toe path late at night, shine the light near them not to spook em, then grab em with yer thum n index finger then ease em out, pearch love em. syain that ive had alot of eels around 4 n half lb on big lobs too.
heeh i always bait with maggots when im pike fishing, its a blinding method. I know this is perch but it works great for pike fishig to specially in winter
my favourite fish in order and method:
1/ perch (small mepps spinner or worms)
2/ chub (split cane rod with centre pin reel, bread, worms or slug)
3/ barbel (split cane rod with centre pin reel, luncheon meat)
4/ pike (freezing winter day, dead bait)
5/ grayling (tiny float outfit or fly)

i catch huge perch with night crawlers (tipe of worm) and the best ways to catch them is with a bober or 2 hooks and a weight on the bottom
