  • they use the snare? please explain, i'm confused.

  • Thanks for the quick reply my friend. I did watch the other video you posted.....i see what you mean. (very helpful).

If you don't mind I have another question. What's the difference (in drumming) between kompa and cadence-lypso??

  • @rummdrumm1 they use the snare drum oppose to the cymbal

  • I think it sounds great!

when playing kompa, what do you do when playing full drum-set?

  • @rummdrumm1 thank u very much. pretty much when i am on a full set u can play like that and make fill-ins when necessary like on the beginning and end of a songs verse or chorus. i just put a link on the video screen where i play the drumset, click it and you'll see.

  • When you hit the cymbal, do you hit it with just the tip of the stick or with all the first part of the stick? Because I tried that and it gave two different sounds.

  • @ziblaziblaza You can hit it however u want, u just need to know how to control the sound of ur kompa cymbal, and it also depend on the drumstick u have. But if u want ur cymbal sound solid hitting with both tip & body of the stick at the same time will give u good result. another thing too, depend on ur cymbal also. this cymbal im playing with dnt sound right to me but i try to make it work.
