  • He is doing the wave xD

  • i think it was mimicking my penis

  • maybe fish are easier to fool than humans, huh little guy?

  • are mimic octopi dangerous at all? or is mimicking really all they got

  • Its imitating the sea snake...

one of the most deadly snakes in the world.

  • it looks like it has a big moustache

  • It's not a mimic octopus, but a wonderpus (wunderpus photogenicus), a different species

  • i watch many videos here that have this octopus saying is the mimic, what's the difference? i can really tell just by watching :S

  • Wonderpus has white spots on top of it's mantle in a somewhat circular pattern, and it's mantle and head are often reddish brown. Took me a while too to see the difference

  • Ignore the main body. Look at the two arms and picture they are one, big sea snake, writing around.

  • wow

  • awesome..

  • it scares me when it walks

  • This is amazing

  • wow

    so you're pretty stupid right?

  • Comment removed

  • its like a mime because of the colour of its skin and its also a shape-shifter. wierd isn't it

  • its not a shape shifter it just has the things all octupuses have flexibillity and the likes its not a shape shifter

  • ya its not a shape shifter it just imitates

  • Actually it alters its shape and color. Like right here, jt's imitating a sea snake because the human is scaring it by "altering" the shape of its body.

  • is that really a imitation of a seasnake?

I mean i have seen what this animal can do on animal planet and i must say it did amaze me.. the transforms it took and it's behaviour. But this clip doesn't make me say wow

  • I do not understand this animal

  • Simple. It is an octopus that has used its chromatophores to take the colouring of a sea snake. Most of its tentacles are out of view - curled under it or in a burrow. The remaining two are then being moved to mimic a sea snake. In the middle there is its head. It uses this to evade, and potentially scare of predators.

  • why IS EVERYBODIE UPLOADING THE SAME VIDEOS??????

  • lol

    its all like "harr harr"

  • amazing

  • OCTOPUS IS CUTE AND SMART ~ U R SHXT

  • I confirm what many have said here.. The extremely poisonous seasnake seem to be one of the preferred imitation of mimic octopus... it likes to mimic also scorpionfishes and other dangerous creatures.

It doesn't like to hide... it likes to defend itself generating scare in all its potential predators.

  • they do an excellent imitation of coral as well.

  • ive actually seen these mimic stingrays, seastars and lion/dragon-fish aswell...! all too scare off potential threats. the actually try to match their opponents natural enemys

  • The mimic octopus is cool.

It's mimicking a sea snake, is it not?

  • no i believe it was mimicking the poisonous sea snake incredibly similar in colour and movement

  • dear mossie89 you are right ... on my opinion the mimic octopus is mimicing the banded seasnake..

  • but why does it have 2 legs out? it doesn't look like asnake to me plz help me see it.

  • It's attempting to imitate a sea snake, by hiding its other tentacles and changing it's colour. This helps ward off potential predators, because sea snakes are known for their venom.

  • its 2 sea snakes looks scarier than 1 :P

  • as in its mimicing the weeds on the bottom? I was sure they didnt posses cloaking technics as seen in another outstanding video

  • Dear febufilmz ... my opinion is, that this mimic octopus is mimicing a seasnake.. bevore this the mimic octopus was hunting for tiny crabs in the sand.. when we aproached him he was starting to mimic the snake..
