Reagan was imperfect, not very smart, a son of an alcoholic, an adulterer (cheated on Jane Wyman with Nancy), was pro-union then anti-union, a Dem. then Repub.. He was very imperfect. It is important to bring him back down the reality. It was a tough job, but he was not great. He lulled a lot of people and that counts for something, but no pain, no gain.

Reagan basically followed the course that was set under the Carter administration, under the advice of Paul Volcker, the FED chairman at the time. What distinguished Reagan's economic policy from other presidents was that he was the first who didn't give a rat's ass about the national debt, as he basically tried to outspend the soviet union.
