I was using different bulbs and lamps to give me a true open circuit when high voltage wasn't present. So that the Low Volts High Current side had a switch so to speak that was activated by the HV completeing the circuit when it reaches it's ionazation point or plasma state. This would allow me as it has to switch the circuit completely on and off which it really seems to like alot.
I will continue to try different lamps and wiring configs in search of reduced current and increased HHO production. But yes the bulbs are in place to absorb current and the xenon strobe tube acts as a solid state switch.

dose it have to be fluorescent lamp?
you can limit the current by light bulb too
