Channel 4 News posted on Mar 10, 2008. This clips keeps playing over and over. Channel 4 why don`t you do a follow up story on China pollution since the marathon. I would like to see if anything has changed or not.

Go look at per capita figures and you ppl will realize who the REAL polluters are. 1.3 billion are expected to make less pollution than .3 billion according to some ppl's logic here. Its not about total. China is winning the total even though each person pollutes more than 4 times less than the average american. Apparently only 0.3 bill are allowed to pollute that much, but not 1.3 bill. America rejected the kyoto protocol, when it was leading total and per capita figures.

Boycott the stupid games. What a waste of money just o show off while there are millions of Chinese still living in poverty. actually.... china only surpassed america just this year. and they're both pretty much the same in pollution levels. you also need to look at the numbers living in each country. you say china doesnt care about pollution. well there are over a billion people in china and about 300 million americans. per capita americans are releasing 3x as much pollution as china. not to mention the fact that america are already a developed nation and dont need to release that pollution.

And even if you did, you should know that america is still the leading polluter. The average american pollutes more than anyone, but each chinese person who pollutes 4 times less is expected to pollute even less so that a country with 1.3 bill pollutes less than one with .3 bill? Maybe if the greatest polluters cut down others would follow.

If you put america and Europe together you only get 700 million ppl-almost half of china. These 700 million pollute almost twice as much as china. The ppl of the industrialized countries are the biggest problem. China is merely a decoy for them. Again, the average chinese person produces less than the average swedish person (and sweden is a very clean country), and far less than the average australian or american. The industrialized countries are the problem. That's the truth - ACCEPT IT.

We should all help China overcome this delima, after all everyone in the world is all affected by it. China should increase their standards in industry and economy. Higher prices in their products, means higher quality and safety. Also good for the workers and the product they export around the world will be much safer. Higher income to China means more ways to inforce the standards and safety. It's not China fault, but everyone who takes advantage of them.

Sweden has a population of around 9 milion in 450,000 km2 (density: 20/km2). Beijing has a population of approximately 17.5 milion in 17,000 km2 (density: 1000/km2)!
