Calleja has the most beautiful Tenor voice since Jussi Bjorling; and the Soprano is absolutely divine. How she sings over this lot I'll never know. Spectacular performance. Well done BBC!
this is excellent, except a little disappointed with the soprano, mezzo, and bass; way too much vibrato. not angelic enough. if you want to see good soloists, see barbara bonney on the mozart requiem
Poor Joseph Calleja being asked to sing with such inferior soloists, couldn't the BBC have done better! If I were Bychkov I would insist on replacements - quite appalling!
@emozioni21 I couldn't be more sure - try listening to Price, Cossotto and Ghiarouv on you tube to hear what singing is all about. The soprano and mezzo in this piece are 2nd rate, sad but true.
