I am hoping that what I say makes sense to someone, and they will start writing and treating this "occupy movement" with the respect it is going to earn.
Did you see where Israel had a demonstration of 500,000 people demanding concessions from their government? It worked. Listen to Martin Luther King, his words are as meaningful today as they were then. This struggle for economic justice and government control, will be won by the people!
I feel the occupy movement does have a basic underlying message; Stop letting money decide political elections; And regulate corporate lobbying (and all lobbying) making it a public forum.
Right now lobbying is mostly two old white guys sitting across from each other in an office. "They" have probably worked with each other or went to the same school; And "they" have promised you a job when you get out of politics, -- tripling your present salary!. The "lobbyist" used to be a "politician", it worked for him!. Who owns who? - That's a "Person-hood".
I also coordinated and promoted a protest in Bellevue when Bush was there.
Happy to say both worked out without arrest, injury or property damage! I worked with the Washington State Patrol in Olympia, and Bellevue Police beforehand, and we pretty much understood the rules of engagement. Medina police were not good partners..
January 20, 2012 – Move to Amend Occupies the Courts!
Move To Amend is planning bold action to mark this date — Occupy the Courts — a one day occupation on Friday January 20, 2012, of the Federal Courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States and as many of the 89 U.S. District Court Buildings as we can. (I am inspired by Doctor Martin Luther King who said; "a true revolution of values", ... "there comes a time when silence is betrayal"., "people are not gonna be silenced".)
Get our troops out of all foreign countries now! WW2 ended over 60 years ago, get our troops out of Europe and Asia! The Korean War ended half a century ago! Get our troops out of the Mid-East, we buy our oil from Mexico, Canada, and Nigeria, stop protecting the oil rights of Europe & Asia in the Mid-East! Enough is enough! End the Era of Big Bank Politicians! The only President of the People since JFK was killed has been Carter!
When people think of Bellevue they think 4 car garages and SUVs, but theyre dead wrong, the majority of Bellevue residents live in neighborhoods like Lake Hills where liberals preside, thats why Bush made a mistake when he came here, because he confused Bellevue with Medina or Clyde Hill or some place, he should never have come to my city.
lol you obviously have no clue what dr. king stood for. he fought for so much more than just "black rights" he fought for love and peace among all people.
Libs... wHaT... do nothing and get blown up... by crazy oranized terror, that are getting organized via INTERNET... WE ARE TAKING OUT THERE LEADERSHIP!!! with out leader the followers don't know what to do!!!....(I do believe in Peace, but if the USA donesn't do anything what COUNTRY WILL???...WHO..... ANSWER (NO NATION WILL).....
That's what the Native Americans got to feel about George Washington; they shot at him point-blank but seemed unable to ever harm him. He'd have holes in his hat, cape, horse shot down under him; yet the man was unharmed.
I believe Mr. King's entreaty was to find our OWN Martin Luther King, Jr. voice in ourselves. Yes, I cannot name a person (and certainly not a corporation..which under law is considered a "person"..amazing isn't it..) today that could fill Mr. King's shoes. I agree..if we all do just a little.. and some even more than a little.. we can restore honesty, integrity, respect for all others and, yes, peace.
Thanks for posting this video and for the thought provoking words of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Chris, this is pretty much the best video I've ever seen you post, though most of the others have been from the debates. The footage is good, but the MLK is probably better than his dream speech, which is saying a ton! When I took AP US history eons ago in high school, my teacher alluded to King moving toward socialism, and I now see what he meant from this speech, or at least hints of it. But more than that, this is a searing call from the nation's conscience of that day for peace.
We as a nation don't have a figure I can think of that stature who embodies the same sort of conscience we had in King at that time. But we do have leaders in Kucinich, Jackson, Cynthia McKinney and Cindy Sheehan who are standing up for the same ideals. I hope we can begin to cut through the din of apathy and corporate hostility to their message to reach the bulk of the American people. Keep up the fight bro! Peace.
Thank you for your kind words. I like to get out and record events like these. Posting debates in hardly any effort. HOwever if we all just do a little, alot can be accomplished and i believe, unfortunately, it took a tyrant to get us pissed off and change for the better is in the air.

"It's not like we're sitting and chanting in the street, of course that would be dangerous".
Does she know what happened in Tacoma earlier this year? Exactly that, and they fired on the protest.

Where is the Martin Luther King Jr of today?
Why, I so wonder, why are people so scared of their government? I have fought in Iraq and I will fight here.
Great video. Thanks for being on the side of peace.

I swear, researchris2, at the time of 5 minutes, they were truely casting out: the Devil, himself.
EVIL simply LIVE taken backwards.
Everything about the Bush-Cheney Administration has been also BACKWARDS.
