Brahman is (supposedly) impersonal (even transpersonal), unknowable, suffusing all reality. It has more in common with pantheism ("all is sacred") than with a deity like Yahweh who is described as speaking, being in one place (say, the top of Mt. Sanai), etc.

yesterday at the robotics regional in hartford dean kamen came and showed everyone the progress they have made over the past year on this project and its incredible. They had the robotic arm working and a veteran that had lost both his arms feeding himself a grape. It was just a video, but it just shows the amazing progress we have made.
Because their handicap lies in a neurologic problem. The lack of active nerve to connect to, or inability of brain to trtanslate stimuli is more than likely the reason for the lack thereof in the people you ignorantly called "crippled".

This video is pretty old, about a year now. Dean Kamen has since improved the arm making it have, I believe, 24 degrees of freedom. The arm in this video is controlled by an exoskeleton worn by a person off camera. In his final product Dean plans on using a wireless connection to the brain to control the arm.
this thing is either, controlled by something in the next room(off camera) or fake, why the footage, why not just bring in the guy with robo-arm infront of the ACTUAL audience, instead of showing a 10sec clip of it.

You know that they'll probably fuel theses arms with hydrogen fuel cells that are recharged with methane or propane. Check out the latest issue of Popular Science. In it they talk about some Darpa funded robo-arm that has 25 joint motions. The bottom picture on page 37 is the best looking real robo-arm (unskinned)I've ever seen.
He has actually scrapped this seemingly altruistic project in favour of creating a Segway-like transporter that runs on mechanical arms instead of wheels.
The arm seems quite smooth. And 14 degrees of freedom should give a lot of flexibility. Last June (i.e.2006), I saw in a NHK documentary where they showed some really cool robotic arm stuff too.
I guess we'll see. If this thing is what this video claims it is, we'll be seeing it in mainstream media soon. IF not, this will be the last we ever hear of it. Regarding the segway scooter, I thought he quit too soon. I thought he should have developed it into a one-wheeled version with no handles...a one wheeled skateboard if you will.

Fascinating. So you actually believe that "the world belongs to" people who have accomplished nothing, have zero power and very little money. Someone's living in a fantasy world, and it ain't me.
Of course, by your "logic", Dean Kamen, who will turn 58 next week, is out of the running. Not to mention that the most powerful man in the world -- Barack Obama -- is 2 years older than I, and consequently, irrelevant. Yeah, right.

Gates, Woz, and Jobs had seen success in their respective fields way past the age of 46. You're way past your prime, yet you haven't made as great an impact on society as Kamen, Gates, and Jobs - when they were 46 they were busy creating a better world. When I was 18 I was an engineering student. A strict Atheist attending a prestegious Univ. in Northern California...I experienced what Sartre called "the existential nausaum" - life had no meaning... I had a conversion experience at 23... and I cannot speak for others but my life has been wonderful since I welcomed Jesus into my heart. I have found the woman of my dreams who will be my wife next year...She is a GORGEOUS Scandinavian polyglot... For me Life as an Atheist was bleak...

And I'm not the only atheist who laughs at the claim that all atheists are interested in is "women, drugs and cars". Some of the greatest philanthropists of our era -- Bill Gates, George Soros, Warren Buffett -- are atheists, and they're hardly fixated on women or drugs.

Amazing, but its just baby steps with this technology at the moments.
With the continuing leaps forward in technology I'm confident it will be possible.
In the next 20-30 years to have a perfectly unnoticeable replacement limb linked neurologically into the brain. What a nice thought :D

yesterday at the robotics regional in hartford dean kamen came and showed everyone the progress they have made over the past year on this project and its incredible. They had the robotic arm working and a veteran that had lost both his arms feeding himself a grape. It was just a video, but it just shows the amazing progress we have made.

This video is pretty old, about a year now. Dean Kamen has since improved the arm making it have, I believe, 24 degrees of freedom. The arm in this video is controlled by an exoskeleton worn by a person off camera. In his final product Dean plans on using a wireless connection to the brain to control the arm.

You know that they'll probably fuel theses arms with hydrogen fuel cells that are recharged with methane or propane. Check out the latest issue of Popular Science. In it they talk about some Darpa funded robo-arm that has 25 joint motions. The bottom picture on page 37 is the best looking real robo-arm (unskinned)I've ever seen.

The arm seems quite smooth. And 14 degrees of freedom should give a lot of flexibility. Last June (i.e.2006), I saw in a NHK documentary where they showed some really cool robotic arm stuff too.

I guess we'll see. If this thing is what this video claims it is, we'll be seeing it in mainstream media soon. IF not, this will be the last we ever hear of it. Regarding the segway scooter, I thought he quit too soon. I thought he should have developed it into a one-wheeled version with no handles...a one wheeled skateboard if you will.
