  • ACTUALLY, books were not used as a means of protection but as a means of stabalizing your weapon when firing. You can tuck your elbow/arm on top of the book and use it as a stabalizer. We do this all the time in the Marines.

  • Testing if [something] will slow down something else when (if) it hits it????

    Stupidest test yet.

  • Wouldn't have stopped a katana.

  • 2:13 your body is soft.. check out facial expression :DD

  • grant speaks some Yoda wisdom

  • 2:14 A shameless excuse to cop a good look at some boobs. Nice

  • the sword is worth 10 grand huh..... Rick will give ya 500 bucks lol

  • they used the sword wrong

that sword is meant for hacking and slashing not stabbing

  • @supercrafterxx

No... a sword can be used for both. Its all about the form. Besides, the sword they are using is pretty damn good at stabbing.

  • So... a priest will never get stabbed?

  • @OhGeeGanksta no. the bible is a fucking abomination to humans. so is all forms of religion. ill stab the fuck outta the pope if i goddamn well want to

  • 2:13 Grant is like "can i test out your softness with my meat sword?"

  • Why do they stab with a weapon made for slashing?

  • Coins in a little bag would probably be more helpful because they form like a chain armor and can not so easily be deflected because of the reduced space

  • 2:12 Body is soft? More like the boobs :D

  • NO.... GOOD BOOKS, SUCH A WASTE

  • 'There's no try, only do' - YES what a place to have a yoda quote!

  • oh Kari's body is soft and it does have just the right amount of give

  • im gonna use twilight so they can stab twilight I HATE TWILIGHT

  • I sometimes wear books (or notebooks) in my pockets to protect me from being stabbed when out walking through the night... :-|

  • Use the sword, Grant...

  • thought they were gonna catch the sword with there hands

  • @SonLastName Once they tried that!

  • Not a very accurate test - the swords sharpness and rigidity would have depreciated over the many years. Also, you should have used a modern book as a control due to the fact the paper may be degrading over time. but im probably wrong anyway.

  • as they say ''money cant buy wisdom''

  • Go JD, Go JD

    Fill this piano

    With some TNT!

    Go JD! Go JD!

  • imma start to use a book everytime xD

  • STAY AWAY FROM ME U U U U HAM MURDER

  • put all the harry potter novels in your poket that could get you through a whole kill bill film

  • @Sarah17431 that would be a great idea! but then the person would die of back arthritis and exhaustion. :)

  • 0:36 He looks so happy...

  • Coins would have been used to be kept in a money pouch. so there would have been a higher density or concentration of them. They wouldn't have moved around as much as putting them in a shirt pocket.

  • they couldn't have used a replica of the sword? one of those three must be a sword collector who just wanted to keep it after the show

  • @jaejunie They don't use replica's because they aren't made like they used to.

  • Lol he quoted Yoda wrong.

  • k if you put the coins over vitals it would reflect and hit none essential spots possibly saving ones life

  • 0:22 Yeah slap dat ass.

  • Hey guys thumbs up if you know that 50cent survived a bullet going right to his heart because a coin of a coin in his shirt pocket ... seriously!

Thumbs The Fucking Up For People Who Don't Know Can Learn It ! =D

  • 2:13 Grant's completely dazzled by Kari's bewbs

  • I love how the Asian guy says his little Japanese meditative words or whatever

  • @blakedub13 His name is grant. When did he say any such thing?

  • Isn't it kind of weird how Grant always gets the best result when they do tests that involve martial arts?

  • she touched her boooooooby :8O

  • Yes.....Believe in yourself

  • 0:24 you like that !

  • Comment removed

  • OMG

    books can save lifes

dont read them carry them with you

  • someone needs to invent a bookshirt

    amirite?

  • Hey! Don't take your prejudice, fat aggression out on me!! Not my fault your mom didn't hug you enough ...or maybe too much w/e. :-) Hope your facebook gets hacked!

  • ok so what did ppl walk around with sword proof vests made of books.. what a dumb myth to even attempt ..

  • @mobspeak its a myth more than 100 years ago... people dont believe that book and coins can save u so these people test it out...

  • You don't stab people like that with a sabre. You slash or stab with an upward blow.

  • @9lk00583 are you a pirate or some shit?

  • @mobspeak Yes.

  • @mobspeak Oh and pirates used Cutlasses not a Cavalry Sabre.

  • @9lk00583 I knew your first comment too. I took sword lessons.

  • Kari is sooo hot

  • they're stabbing a beautiful antique book with a just as beautiful antique sword?

Just give it to me please!!

  • Dictionaries finally have a good use.

  • So if the Twilight books suck sooo much, why don't you write a better book? Just sounds like envy to me lol. I mean the whole "i sparkle in sunlight" thing was pretty gay, but the idea behind the books were awesome. Suck on it!!!!!

  • In russia, sword stops you!

  • the soldiers dont use the sword like that

  • that asian guy was looking to long at here boobies! ;)

  • what about an iphone 4???

  • Fuck books, I just throw on my medieval plate armor whenever I go out. You know just in case.

  • 0:14 tori is right. who the hell would trust them with that!?

  • Stabbing or impaling?

  • do they not know how civil war sabers were used? they were almost never used for stabbing, they were just meant to be outstretched and cut up people while riding a horse, and even if they were used in hand to hand combat they are swinging weapons

  • pause

    hold 9

    keep holding 9 and un-pause

  • @zabuzamomochi100 invisible dick lol

  • @zabuzamomochi100 fap fap fap fap fap

  • pause press 8

    play and hold 8

  • ok now lets do this from a moving horse

  • WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY DOING STABBING THINGS WITH A CIVIL WAR SWORD THAT'S WORTH 10,000 BUCKS!?!?!?!?!?!

  • wonder what makes them think that their strength are equal to those warriors back then =|

  • @teamchemistryrex They weren't 'warriors'. They were officers and cavalrymen who signed up to protect the union. Remember they weren't body builders, they weren't buff, some would have been slightly overweight others may have been quite thin due to ration's, poor nutrition and illness, specificaly disentry. Although, an important factor they did miss out was rage. When you're in a battle, your heart is pumping so fast and you're full of testosterone, using all your strength to hack and stab.

  • @grobo11 but well, if compared to these guys, the 'warriors' still are better than them. Since they are trained while these guys are not :| You got what I mean?

  • @teamchemistryrex Dpesn't really take much training for a cavalry saber does it?

  • @grobo11 if they are veterans? :D spent hell lots of time stabbing and stabbing again, surely they will be different :P

  • @teamchemistryrex Not really. Once you stab you stab. There may be different ways of stabbing I guess, but it doesn't really affect the result.

  • @grobo11 :O

  • mythbuster is getting lame.

  • So what do we learn from this?

It's not about the money, it's about a good book ^^

  • penis

  • thats a morgan half dollar!!

  • Soooo, what the heck are they doing using THOSE coins!?!?!

  • more proof knowledge cannot be bought

  • 2:10 LOL he's lookin pretty deep there. Can't blame em, I would do the same thing! XD

  • gross!!!!!!! press 1 reapitly

  • 2:18 bow chika wow wow

  • damn that was an awkward stab tory.

  • I think if you completely fill the pocket with coins then it would block the sword.

  • lol keep tapping 5 and listen

  • keep pressing 9 to see a happy asian.

  • at 1:40 he says he cant hit a coin.... hes fucking ASIAN for christ sake!!!

  • why did they only test a stab attack? Coins might be able to block a slash attack.

  • You wouldn't stab with that sword, you'd slash. Just sayin'.

  • @Howisstifflucky You can stab with that sword, too. Though yes, a slash is much more likely.

  • pause at 2:16 to see the asian staring at her boobs

  • Thumbs up for paper plate mails. XD

  • pause press 7 and play hold 7

  • the whole idea is just plain stupid!

  • This how we should be using books in school...

  • Why didnt they try this with a metal-claw-bracer, it makes more since to use the tool ninjas used to stop the sword. cant confirm/bust a myth unless you use the tools included in the myth.

  • That's the true use of books.

  • so twilight books might finally have a use?

  • @zmt1010 No, he said "a GOOD book".

  • @zmt1010 lol!

  • @zmt1010 No, the narrator specifically said "a good book would save you". Twilight would be no better than leaves. Try a Discworld book, that'd probably render you immortal.

  • @zmt1010 you may use the sheets to smoke reefer as well

  • @zmt1010

Made differently, paper back and all that. Although as a fire starter, they're excellent. ^ ^

  • @zmt1010 I believe the guy said a GOOD book. Twilight? Far from it.

  • @zmt1010 hahahahahahahahaha seems like it XD

  • @zmt1010 nope, if u listen, at the end he says a 'GOOD' book will save you :) hehe.

  • @zmt1010 no the only use they have is for fires :) btw, when was the last time you heard of a twilight book saving someone?

  • @zmt1010 lolol

  • @zmt1010 he said "with a good book" so no, twilight wouldn't help.

  • @AToySoldierx LOL

  • @AToySoldierx I think twilight gona end up killing more with its contents than people relying on it as armour for sword stabs

  • @AToySoldierx but if you had war and peace then you would be bullet proof :3 (because its so darn thick)

  • @AToySoldierx would i have the privilege of flying to yours good sir house and give a firm handshake for a thousands of 'thumbs up' would still have not been enough to express my greatest gratitude towards your kind soul ...

  • @AToySoldierx -Uses a thin paper which has a good story- SWORD DEFLECTED.

-Uses twilight which is four inches thick on a hardcover- SWORD PIERCES THROUGH.

  • @zmt1010 280+ thumbs up says it's a good idea.

  • 0:01

  • Comment removed

  • Try that with Ike's Ragnell now

  • did u know that they broke that sword after because they were playing with it lol thumbs if if u knew or didnt know

  • So knowlage is power

  • cold steels katana would destroy that sword and coin.

  • @amessenger4god78 and that book remember

  • Anyone ever heard of phonebooks in prison?!?! stop that shank right up

  • Uhhh.....what ARE they doing with that sword and why isn't it in a museum?

  • $10,000 my ass

  • @henriquezsf i doubt your ass is worth $10,000!!! xD

  • $10,000? I have a Civil War sword--my ancestor's--I had no idea it could be worth that much! O.O Need to get that appraised.....

  • wat if they had the coins sewed in the shirt diff outcome yes lol

  • @ericC091987 Why not wear some chainmail?

  • @ff7masta

    Chainmail's fucking heavy.

  • @Riiya932 Not really. It's like wearing a really thick sweater. LARP chainmail blows ass, but if you make your own, it really can take some damage. Not very heavy either.

  • @Riiya932 It will protect you more then some coins o_O

  • @ff7masta Yes, but it's a pain in the ass to put on your chainmail every time you leave your house. Apparently some thought that it'd be less trouble if they'd just take a book to cover themselves..

  • @Riiya932 It's war, not a picnic. "A pain in the ass" doesn't apply here.

Although chain mail is useless against bullets, as in this case of civil war.

  • @ff7masta

    It's a myth getting busted, not an essay about the logic that the people who didn't prefer chainmail had;

Naturally chainmail armour is way safer than a book, but maybe some couldn't afford a chainmail, had no access to one any other ways or had other specific reasons of taking a book instead of chainmail.

  • @Riiya932

    Bullets > Chainmail

  • @Riiya932 I actually have a suit of stainless steel chainmail and it isn't more of a hassle than putting on a shirt -.- unless your talking about a coif which is a little more challenging :D

  • @migratorycocanut

Unfortunately, I am not an expert on this topic, I just thought that a chainmail would make its wearer be unable to move as freely (due to the weight or the way you can generally move in it), or how maybe some people weren't either able to afford / get ahold of one, or maybe weren't in a situation that'd "allow" a chainmail; (I don't know if, for example, was common to wear chainmails if you feared getting assaulted, but were on a peace mission or whatever). [Post limit]

  • @Riiya932 lol ya my geuss was some dude tried to stab a scribe or something and all the scribe had to defend himself with was a book. And turns out it works :D

  • @migratorycocanut

    If anyone who knows about that kind of thing tells me the opposite, I wouldn't hestitate to agree with his opinion;

I was probably just thinking about ways why you wouldn't wear a chainmail armour but would prefer something like a book.

  • Press 9 to hear Kari to tell Grant that he's just going to get stabbed.

  • Pause, Hit 7, Play and hold 7, His a pirate!! aayeyeyeyeaye

  • why not just stab the book. do they need to dress it

  • @eftultimate Cosmetic purposes.

  • @eftultimate Well, the book could have slip to the side like the coins did. The coins couldn't be stabbed, but they slipped off. If they tested without the shirt, then the coins could have been falsely confirmed instead of busted.

  • @Davtwan ok so the test was not tp test the strength of the sword but rather if the myth about coins protecting people from swords was true

  • what the hell made them believe coins would help back in those days?

  • @TheGeckoNinja Stories told in the day. Watch the video, kids.

  • A katana would have zipped right through them.

  • Dude is Kari wearing a Venom T-Shirt??? That's totally badass, I had no idea she had such cool taste in music

    Venom Rocks! Classic Black Metal!

That just makes me like her even more

  • use a dagger to stab. you're not using the right weapon to do da shits.

  • @HaRtBrEaKiiiD they are re-enacting a civil war scenario which uses mainly the sword they're testing.

  • if you pause then play the video and hit two on your keyboard they say anus

  • qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq

  • money baaaaaaaaad book goooooooooooood

  • BLACK METAL!!! \m/

  • Venom!

  • she is hot and has a great taste for music

  • cool

  • The Old Man on Pawn Stars would pay about 1000 bucks for that sword...

  • yes yes use a historic blade to do this 10,000 dollars and from this probably degraded its value

  • @TheMrlovestospooge69 i know wtf...

  • reminds me of the roosevelt shooting, a gunner shot him in the heart but roosevelt had a 60 page speech folded up in his breast pocket as well as his glasses case, the bullet hit him but thanks to the items, it only grazed him. so yeah its a confirm, ill remind myslef to have a book in my pocket at all times

  • pretty sure if you tried to stab with a sword, they deserved to live

  • Thumbs up if you think Carrie's boobies would be the best plade repellent. Boing!

  • @mondaymissive I don't get it?
