  • I love this. This guy definitely has brains and insight. bravo.

  • nice one!salute to this non-biased French senator!

  • This French guy is smart guy ..

  • I thought he is only one French to stand in the side of Chinese side.

  • Let me add something:

Melenchon is the biggest minority hater in France (I am btw from a cultural minority in France). So I am actually not surprised by his position.

  • BRAVO MELENCHON!

Liberté d'expression, oui! DESNFORMATION DES MEDIAS, NON!

NE NOUS BASONS PAS SUR LES PREJUGES !

VIVE LES JEUX OLYMPIQUES A BEIJING!!!

  • Rational people with rational thoughts is rare in France today.

  • crying out to hear from those ppl ~

  • You're made all the more despicable for your lies. Being a Tibetan Buddhist doesn't exclude you from being human I guess!

  • YEAH!!! well said

  • actually, even under the rule of Dalai Lama there was slavery...it is part of tibetan buddhism. you can't even support your claim. people starv everywhere and anytime, even in america.

  • LMFAO, your Tibetan Gov't in Exile still lying to you?! You know where you got that 1.2 million number from? THIN AIR. Patrick French, an honest guy who spent the better part of his life working for your Free Tibet Campaign and was the DIRECTOR OF THAT CAMPAIIGN, went to Dharamsala and found out that most of the statistics you Tibetans in Exile use are LIES!

  • LMMMMFAO. You still believe that crap! Tibetans were living in sunshine before the evil Chinese came around! Lol, I don't blame you, since you'd rather trust your "family" and "kinsmen" in exile than the Chinese, who are STILL poor and can barely feed you because you don't WORK.

  • and you have confidence in the data because you crapped it out yourself or asked one the exiled monk slaveholders lol.

  • lol...ignorant fool get ur wording right. china didnt 'invade' tibet. it just reasserted control over its own sovereign land.

last time i checked the atlas tibet is a part of china so go figure out!

  • This is a scary time. Just look at the damned riots in your country and all the racism sparked by this Free Tibet conspiracy. SekyinB, fight the other injustices of your country, but don't support independence. Too much blind hate generated by this mess.

Even the DL himself does not ask for it anymore (since the CIA stopped their funding). He just wants to talk. That's fine. Independent Tibet is dreamed by selfish/brainwashed young Tibetans who don't think of the global consequences. Sorry.

  • omg, why do you guys have to repeat "no independence" to me. I have said I'm not with Tibetan separatists!!And I'm not fighting anything!

And i'm not arguing you with "turning into Africa" thing coz idk wat you are talking about.

The govt has been inciting "patriotism". Now it found out it had been a bit too much. It's just laughable. They have been using this incident to distract ppl's attention to other problems like inflation.

  • To choose between two Evil Communist or Slavery. I will choose a lesser Evil. In fact, all government are Evil in some sense. We look into the future.

Freedom for Tibet, will imply that Tibet will go back 20 years or 50 years back without the economic resources from Greater China.

Since it is a landlock nation, resources limited, poverty will thrive.

In fact, the worst Evil is Poverty.

  • Hehe, That is true.

Just like the America is drawing attention to China and international issues right now to avoid talking about the subprime crisis, energy, recession, etc. Yeah, I know all about it. :)

  • SekyinB:

You have every right to hate your gov't, however, now is not the time. The rest of the world right now is trying to turn Asia into another Africa. I don't want that. Think about it, without the Chinese gov't handling Tibet, it would be turned into a geopolitical vacuum. Airline flight paths go through china to tibet. Energy, tranportation, communication, infrustrature, all would be dumped on the rest of the world.

China is controlling 1/5th of the world's pop. It's doing a decent job.

  • Oh, not to mention where it's located. Lovely place for Al Qaeda once the Chinese stop looking after it. Seriously, once the Dalai Lama is gone (i know, scary thought, but it'll happen), those Tibetans won't be as peaceful anymore. They are too reactionary, IMO, hating modernization, hating everything. Just listen to their online rants. hate hate hate.

  • Respect!!

  • Enfin un homme qui a les couilles de dire la vérité!

Les Européens soutenant le TIBET sont tous je parie des gars qui ont lu "Tintin au Tibet" et trouvent les moines bien sympatoches...

  • I like him... so cool! A rational man with independent thinking and not being brainwashed:-)

  • God bless him

  • I can't agree with him more. I hate Chinese government, and I hope Tibetans can have true autonomy. But I don't like the way many Tibetans/Westerns have done to vilify Chinese.

  • tibet is part of china...you can hate the gov but is that the only gov that you hate?

  • Well did i say anything that sounds like pro-independence? idk why you guys have to repeat that sentence again and again even when ppl are not talking about separatism....

To your question: I hate a lot of things, including Chinese Government...that's all

  • im with you

  • thanx

  • When the french attack the flame, they disregard the spirit of Olympic. therefore we can see who is irrational and who is not, who is idiotic and who is not. Like the Emperor New cloth.

Being brainwashed is what most pple are.

when they become emotional they incur hatred. that is the result of argument. It always take two dogs to fight, so dont be a dog. there is no arguement.

  • Most people are susceptible to propaganda...in every country with no exception...so i agree with you on that...

But do you even know about what's happening in China? did you know that extremism had been DELIBERATELY incited...the so-called patriots blocked common customers from entering Carrefour, and commited vandalism inside the supermarkets...extreme languages just like those in Cultural revolution have been all over

I'm Chinese and I love my country. But never in that way.

  • I am Chinese, I love my race as a Chinese. the one who start the violence is wrong. choosing the path of extreme action is wrong.

Why shouldnt china let the pple choose. Well, it is a communist country. that is the reason why.

But Should Tibet be independent. No. If it happened, we should see bigger implication, taiwan, xinjiang, mongolia, ...

Should China continue. I dont have an answer.

But we see that China is improving very fast over the years.

We see a sleeping dragon awaken.

  • Well in fact no one knows what happened before Mar 14, thanks to our govt...so it is not fair to look at what has been shown publicly, becoz that may only be one side of the story

and PLEASE don't repeat the "no independent" sentence, i said nth about separatism

  • SekyinB,

China has a HUGE population, and it's susceptible to these kinds of mobs. It starts with a few extremists, snowballs with more moderate extremists, until it a "critical mass" and becomes a completely irrational mob. This is why democracy still has a long way to go for China, and the CCP, despite it's evils, is necessary to contain the population. Just try to be rational yourself, and hope your countrymen actually listen to your gov't when they tell you to calm the f*** down.

  • We don't want another Africa, and we certainly don't want World War 3.

  • DALAI LAMA, GET OVER YOUR PRIDE AND JUST TAKE THE OFFER. Wtf, asking for Sichuan and Yunan as well as Tibet. Greedy SOB. GOD. Try to negotiate!!

  • Finally someone that tells the truth!

  • What a wise French man. You have my sincerest respect.

  • Senator J. Melenchon expressed a balanced view on Tibet issue. If he was French President, He will get full respect from all Chinese and their government. A lots of things will be easier to be understand and resolved peacefully. Best Regards.

  • That's called a wise man talking!

    Respect!

  • Senator J. Melenchon is a good honest man. Thanks to him!

  • hes got a real good point. and unbiased(dont think he's against tibet, he is not, but he is definitely clear enough to not bash china for everything)

  • Is true what is Sir saying is true. I truely respect to him. He is a good man

  • A smart French.

  • He has told the truth. He is great ! Respect him.

  • he is so special and smart

  • clear, fair, and well-said,

    respect Jean, he is awesome
