  • @MrPonolicious oh! loa'a ia'u i kekahi kanaka e maopopo ai i ka 'olelo hawai'i! makemake au e 'ike i ka 'olelo 'ana o na po'e i ka 'olelo hawai'i. E kala mai ia'u no ko'u kuhi 'ana e pili ana ia'oe. aka, kapa 'ia na po'e pake/mekiko i na po'e haole e ko'u 'ohana, no laila, na kela ke kumu o ko'u 'olelo 'ana o ko'u unuhina pono a lohe au i na po'e ea'e e kapa ai i na po'e pake/mekiko i na po'e haole sooooo yeahh. idk. Aka, hiki ia'oe ke ha'i ia'u ka wahi o kou a'o mai 'ana o ka 'olelo hawai'i?

  • @p0m41k41 haha okay now i will need a translation for this. my Hawaiian is a little rusty.

  • @MrPonolicious haha k. sooo i've found some one that understands the hawaiian language. I like to see the speaking of the people in the hawaiian language. Excuse me for my assumptions about you, but chinese and mexicans are also called haole by my family, therefore, that's the reason of my speaking of my literal translation and I hear other people that call chinese and mexican people haole too soo yeah i dunno. however, can you tell me the place of your learning of the hawaian language?

  • @p0m41k41 haha well im still learning to ‘ōlelo. its alright. im sorry i never knew that. see ive never heard them being called haole. the only way ive heard it was to someone of white skin. im learning at Pearl City High. its pretty junk sometimes. but its okay at least im learning.

  • 17 haoles can go suck biebers ding ding

  • @Rocky96734 yo mama is a haole!! or just wishes she was

  • @MrPonolicious if it was "without breath", the Hawaiian word would be "hā'ole". "Hā" meaning breath, and "'ole" meaning without. "Haole" means foreign, or someone with white skin. 'a'ole maopopo iā'oe i ka 'ōlelo Hawai'i e like me a'u. Mai nīnau ko'u mau 'ōlelo, ke 'olu'olu. You don't know Hawaiian language like me. Don't question my words, please.

  • @p0m41k41 ‘A’ole pono ‘oe e ha’I iā’u I ka unuhina. ‘Ē maopopo au. Akā, kala mai iā’u no ka hewa. I get what youre saying about the spelling and literal meaning but what I’m trying to get at people is really how often do you see people calling a Chinese man haole? Or someone from let's say Mexico or even Japan. They are all foreign to Hawai’i. but yet we don’t use it for them. That’s all I’m trying to say. Sorry if you were offended by anything I said.

  • this beautiful song takes me back to my highschoool days...

  • this beautfiul song takes me back to highschool!

  • Okay people:

Haole ORIGINALLY meant " those with no breath" in Hawaiian by Hawaiians, just as a way to describe the pale newcomers of their land.

Haole NOW is just a slang term that can be used casually to mean Caucasian. Whether it's derogatory or not depends on the context.

  • At first I thought it was Wonderful Tonight haha

  • This song so old brah this song is the shet

  • mean as song, dope

  • haha every song sound better hawaiian style

  • Ahhhhhh Yeahhh!!!!!Wea dey at????idk Hana gurllzz

  • Haole means "no breath of life." That is the literal translation. Ancient Hawaiians used to exchange "Ha" or the breath of life. When the foreigners came to the island, they shook hands instead of touching foreheads and exchanging breaths. Therefore, the ancient Hawaiians thought they had no "ha." Hence, the term "haole" was born. :)

Source: I'm a haole that was born on the islands, but raised elsewhere. I now live back on the islands and my father is a huge Hawaiian history buff!

  • @kooiman85 thank you. at least someone knows. im tired of seeing so many people get the definition wrong. its quite sad actually

  • @MrPonolicious I agree. It's funny how even some natives have come to take the term without even knowing the history.

  • @MrPonolicious I agree. It frustrates me when anybody (native or not) uses the term, THINKING they know the meaning and history, when really they don't. Then again, sadly, we use words every day that I'm sure we don't all know the origin of.

  • @CALIsol08 Cool

  • @CALIsol08 im glad you met the nice Hawaiians. honestly some of the Hawaiians here are so arrogant, some of the things they say sound so stupid. and to anyone else reading this im Hawaiian. born and raised Hawaiian so dont give me shit if youre offended by what i said to this person

  • chee hoo!!! ISLAND PRIDE!!!!!!

  • This white Texas lady *loves* this music! so soothing... So uplifting.

  • boy im on my way .. haha,

  • music is music...and it shouldn't be hated on

  • da

  • Born and raised here and I don't think calling a white guy "haole" means calling them a racist... that dictionary needs to be updated LOL

  • k , idk bout nybody else, but where i live, hoale is just one nickname for "white"(im guessing its pidgeon or just one local word) but yah, idk where ppl got da part where it means to be racist white ppl, cuz nobody i kno referred to all haoles as racist.

  • @808ASIANKID808 Haole is actually an literal Hawaiian word. It means "foreigner". So haole is just another term for any other people in Hawai'i that are not from Hawai'i(:

  • @p0m41k41 well sir i did not kno dat it was an actual hawaiian word, so thx for dat, i learned sumtin new ^_^.....but ive nvr ever in my life seen anybody refer to anybody other than white "haole", not saying ur wrong or nything just ive nvr heard it O_o. btw, do u kno where ppl got the "racist" part?

  • @p0m41k41 I have to agree with you on that one.

  • @p0m41k41 no it doesnt. the literal definition of Haole is "without breath" however it was used to label someone not from Hawai'i. nowdays its just used for someone with white skin

  • Also a white guy, (from seattle) and i absolutely love this music. Simply beautiful.

  • this song gives me so much memories of when i was just a kid wit cuzins and aunties and uncles D:

  • Why are people so racist!? A nationality of a person isn't a right, it's a responsibility given to us from God to help each other learn and grow from one another. So we need to stop all this stupidity. Much love and peace from a Palauan raised in Hawai'i.

  • @TheKale808 ......

  • @TheKale808 White = Haole! that how it is! not respectful... get da facts right! u guys need to earn respect to get respect! not gonna jus han u my respect! this is comin from a 100% NATIVE HAWAIIAN

  • @9tbarros sorry man, not every hawaiian agrees with that

  • @TheKale808 I prefer to be called "haole" instead of "white". Really never realized that is derogatory term.
