I... What? This is SO different from the book... Love interest? Meeting Toothless instead of raising him... Heroic atmosphere? Strong friendship instead of a begrudging one? What is this?

I don't actually mind a few changes in adaptations but this isn't an adaptation it just has the same character names and setting the things that endeared the book to me are gone ): And I wanted to like the film too but it looks so bland and formulaic.

it wouldve taken a LONG time if not several films to perfectly convey the book(s) to a tee... and it would've lost a lot of money just to satisfy a fringe group of kids who actually knew of and loved the book(s) before now. im a fan of the book series and i thought the movie was good. we had plently of time to prepare ourselves for knowing this wasnt going to be a book-to-movie type of deal. Just like Cloudy w/a change of meatballs.

I have a really good feeling about this film. The story reminds me of Free Willy in a way, one of my favorite films. The character designs, the visuals, just look amazing. I admit I wasn't a big fan of Monsters vs. Aliens last year, but it looks like you guys are gonna bounce right back in my book this year! :D
