@RamBam3000 That's actually his stage name (not sure if he legally changed it or not). His birth-name was Andrew Taylor... yeah, not quite as exciting.
The band were superb,The Style,The Music I saw them on lots of occasions & they will always have a place in my heart. Its such a pity that Andrew despite being so talented was how should we say labelled as "Difficult to work with" that & them living above the chemist shop meant the formation of the band kept changing.
It is so beautiful... Thank you! Is the last part of the video (from 4 min) from an another song, or is it an alternative ending of Alice? I really loved it!! :)
Thanks :) Yes, it is "fix". I found it on "Some girls wander by mistake". It has been so many years since I last listened to that album. Perfec on a rainy day like today ;) Or any day, really.
@felixlechatbotte I must agree with you on that one :) "Driven Like The Snow" also has the right atmosphere for bad weather, I think :) Or why not try Portishead?
@AnnKristinVike you're right with Portishead: "dummy" contains some subbtle songs that will fit perfect mood under the rain ;) maybe also The Mission Uk will have some in different albums..
@felixlechatbotte Have you listened to Tricky? "Hell is round the corner" or "Black Steel" are also great songs for rainy days, or simply when you want to listen to beatuiful music.

@AnnKristinVike Just watched the live video for "the brothel" by Susanne Sundfor...what an amazing song, I didn't know such a talented artist until I heard her :) thanks a lot! It remind me about an impressive song: "blow wind blow" by Alison Moyet, from the album "raindaincing"...perfect for that kind of weather.
@felixlechatbotte Thank you for reminding me of Alison Moyet! It has been years since I've listened to her music. I'd prefer a new studio album by SoM but if Eldrich doesn't want to make one then I guess that won't happen. On the other hand, he must have enough live recordings of the new material of good enough quality to make an album. I don't mind bands taking their time to get things right, but they've been beaten to it by Duke Nukem Forever!
im 16 and thanks to great parenting i listen to sisters and heavy metal and rock. i hate it when people automatically asume if you are a teen you are either a chav or an emo. i am neither, i am a rocker!
Nice performance on the electric bass. Killer tone, and right on the money. Surprised what a great live Band the Sisters were in the early days. Sorry I did't get to seem them in this period.
Love this song love goth music, but still have a problem with all the goth clones. If you say your an individual then dress so. Not in velvet, corsets ect ect.

I'm 16, I don't think anyone cares to be fair. Great music is for all people so theres no need to state how old you are, Not that I don't think it's good that young people such as myself listen to such music. But still, Give it up :/
@DeathJadeCore Good on you dude theres so many dark and wonderfull sounds to find...I was 12 when I saw my first Nephilim gig and at 36 Im still wearing the TShirts and blasting these tracks out
@DeathJadeCore They're still kickin' around, I believe. I read something about Eldritch doing a new album on Ultimate-Guitar...I found these guys when I was your age, fell in love. I'm 20 now, and they're one of my favorites even still.
The Sisters of Mercy is one of the only rock bands where the bassists tend to be more high-profile than the guitarists: Craig Armstrong in the first lineup (and in this vid), then Patricia Morrison (who could ever forget her?), and then Tony James. All bigger names than their guitarist counterparts (except for Wayne Hussey). Being German, I remember how baffled I was when I saw Andrew giving an Interview some 20 years ago and responding in absolutely fluent, almost accent free German.
@somalnicht He's fluent in several languages: German (I believe he actually lives there now), French... and I think Mandarin. I remember reading that his father was in the military, so his family pretty much lived all over the world.
I know about two live albums: kiss the Blade (KTS RECORDS ITALY) THAT SEEMS LIKE MAKE WHITH A PORTATIL RECORDER AND ANOTHER CALLED "TRIP THE LIGHT " (LIVE AT THE FORUM 6 SEPTEMBER 2000), A LIMITED EDITION OF 500 COPIES OF THE SAME RECORD QUALITY
Que vuelva la musica gotica, siniestra.!!Que vuelvan los Ingleses a hacer musica a lo grande. Estamos hartos de sonidos groseros, vulgares y calientes.
There was a box of 9 CDs back in the day that included several live recordings. This one is from the 1985 video Wake....which was also available on VHS.
Their last show with this line up , Garry Marx had already left . After the last song he says " And goodbye " Not goodnight ,they didnt play again until Vision Thing album shame because this was easily the best line up . Lot of people doubted Hussey coming from Dead or Alive . First Last and Always , then they split bastards !
@skullzero77 There was a huge soap opera involving their split. Initially it was because of Eldritch's drug use, but then tensions became really heated when Hussey and Adams wanted to call their new band "The Sisterhood"--which was what SOM fans called themselves. Eldritch wasn't having that, so he scrambled to put out a CD with "The Sisterhood" (which included Patricia Morrison on bass) and sued Hussey & Adams for ₤25,000. Hussey & Adams later called their new band The Mission.
@mattowarrior I's not even old-school because this is real Goth;the shit people Goth today is some form of metal, techno or grunge,pseudo-alternative bull-shit.Real Goth will always be and today there are still bands making this music.
the classic line up. First and last and always always the best

About this G thing.. he has the right to decide what he is and what he isn't.. and not have labels designated to him by some idiots.

They sound just the same live as in studio, mark of a great band.
I saw them in Philadelphia many years ago live.

Funny tho, Sisters always swore that they were NOT goth and Andrew would get quite pissed when it was suggested

@dillymaumoon Yeah, he's known to get pissed at that. :-)

Their last show with this line up , Garry Marx had already left . After the last song he says " And goodbye " Not goodnight ,they didnt play again until Vision Thing album shame because this was easily the best line up . Lot of people doubted Hussey coming from Dead or Alive . First Last and Always , then they split bastards !
skullzero77 1 year ago
@skullzero77 There was a huge soap opera involving their split. Initially it was because of Eldritch's drug use, but then tensions became really heated when Hussey and Adams wanted to call their new band "The Sisterhood"--which was what SOM fans called themselves. Eldritch wasn't having that, so he scrambled to put out a CD with "The Sisterhood" (which included Patricia Morrison on bass) and sued Hussey & Adams for ₤25,000. Hussey & Adams later called their new band The Mission.
