Well it depends to me the logic of it is if the person ask the other person on the date then the person who asked is automatically assumed to pay THAT'S why most people think men are supposed to pay because they think men are the ones who are the one who is supposed to ask for the date but if a women invite a man on a date then It is logic that she should pay since she asked for him to come. If you expect to ask and not pay then you should say that prior to the date.
