I'll say just one thing., or maybe two... one of the airplane engines were going forward and the other one was going backwards... the stephine guy made a fatal mistake.. I watched this I think on discovery channel once or i think its history channel... not that sure though..
@Skyhawk1998 I don't understand your explanation. Why should the engines be at full power before touching down? The engines go from low power, to idle, to reverse. Why should they be at full power during the approach to the runway - especially as a routine procedure?
@theknightlynews Hmm... well, the trust reversers reverse the thrust. No power, no reverse thrust? I should stop talking, at this point I am basically talking out of my ass.
@Skyhawk1998 Yes, but the engines were at full power on landing. That means full power forward. When an aircraft is on final approach its power is dialed down, it's almost gliding in. Then on touch down, the engines are put to reverse. But in this case, the documentary states that the plane landed with engines at full power, and one was left at full power while the other one was in reverse. It was never explained why the engines were at full power at that stage of flight.
There is no explanation WHY such an experienced pilot and not 1, but 2 pilots have made such a simple big mistake. It is like you are a professional driver, you want to stop your car but you keep pushing the gas pedal. You hear the engine powering up, but it doesn't come to your mind that you need to stop pushing the dang gas pedal. In my humble opinion there must be something else about this accident and it is not about the runway nor the reverser.
Maybe they explain this in a later section but, explain to me WHY they'd try to land on 35L if there is a malfunction w/ their plane? Why risk it? I'm not a pilot but it seems like common sense to me: problem with plane=dangerous. So find another airport (with less rain and a longer runway) for your stricken bird! :(
why would they build an airport at such a location? I understand its a very crowded city, but if an accident occur like a plane overshooting a runway, it can collide with apartment blocks killing more people.
Its just impossible for a pilot to do a final approach with full throttle. And if he did it, the difference between the engines acceleration would make the plane automatically turn to the left towards the airport building. Try doing this at a simulator. It was obviously mechanical failure.
@hutch356 Because you SHOULD be able to stop the aircraft without them. They do allow for some extra leeway but the aircraft should stop. If you doubt this, look up the test results of aborted takeoffs at V1 speed with full weight and almost no brakes the FAA puts the aircraft through for its flight worthiness certification. for example, search 747-8F performs ultimate rejected take-off
the a320 has a 3-3 seating layout but aci puts a 3-2 layout....like in the one about british airways 38, they showed a 2-3-2 layout but on 777s its actually a 3-3-3 layout......the give the 747 a 2-4-2 layout...
@MoustachesAreEpic no i was saying about how aci changes it.....i know some airlines have different seating arrangements but aci changes how MOST airlines put seating arrangements on their planes.....
O.o mhmmm.... if they are in a pinch at high speed on the runway why not power up and go for another shot? ..... i think its just me though, true you barely think in stressed situations like those
This documentary have a BIG BIG MISTAKE. Who are in command are captain Kleyber Lima, not Sthepanniny Di Sacco. The have Grotesc error in this documentary. Unbelivable!!!
@lotharzipo They are radio antennas. They are present at every major airport. Sometimes they are mounted on individual towers and sometimes they are mounted on a single tower like the one in the video.
thank you for your uploads! you do good work and it's greatly appreciated!
i wonder why they used a simple beep when the captain disconnects the Auto Pilot on his A320 i mean, you could get the a320 AP sounds from the internet in a few minutes. anyway. good work again :) congrats on the quality.
That isn't an A320 2:12

Why in the world would the thrust reversers be at full power just prior to touchdown??
theknightlynews 2 weeks ago
@theknightlynews Slowing down the aircraft, as the runway was quite slippery and she would have to be flying slower to stop.

And why were the engines in TOGA seconds before landing anyway? This episode skips over a lot of questions...
