  • silly question... does the grass flop over after a time or does it 'stay up' to coin a phrase..

    thanks

  • @mrchrisniro Once the glue has set the grass stays upright forever.

  • Umm, I heard that if you use the puffer bottle then use a vaccum with a cloth over the end you will get quite a good result, sounds cheaper, unless i'm wrong??

  • @lukianzio Sounds like it can work, but the effect wont be as good. I have one of those puffer bottles and it is not as good as my homemade grass applicator. At only £20 - £30 it's worth building your own device.

  • Brilliant job

  • what did you put under the static grass. At the start you said that you wanted to put static grass on the back straight.

  • Fabulous! So impressive - will have to try it myself :)

  • Any chance you would mail me instructions on how you built yours ? With a few photos as me and electronics are not the best of friends :-)

  • Very very good. Seeing this demo has made my mind up. I gotta make one of those.

    Cheers

  • @o0poindexter0o good luck

  • yeah see them, i also just brought of the bey a grass tech ll, think its like the noch one ,an x demo £50 they had 2 only onle left if u need one

  • i seen them on ebey for £79 but not noch but then i found one for £19 looks like the fly swater with a tea strainer on the end lol oh well wee see if it works lol ,oh yeah after i brought it found another bloke selling them for £ 12.99 , dam it doh!

  • @Theg4challenge Yeah, i've seen fly swatter method. It does work, but not as well as the ion generator.

  • Amazing! I made one using an electric fly swatter and it doesn't work so good, just a little better than the puffer bottle; the fibres stand up but no where near as much as your negative ion generator version.

A shame negative ion generators appear to be rarer than hens teeth :( I really don't like the idea of paying £100+ for something that can be made for <£30

  • @4468 Thanks, I still can't believe the price of a ready made version. Negative ion generators are available from Oatley electronics in Austraila. Total cost is about £25 including shipping to the UK.

  • @EverardJunction Thank you for replying :) I must not have heard you mention Oatley Electronics I've had a look and notice they have the IONB2 in stock, is this the same one you used? I certainly would rather make my own than pay a price which seems overly inflated, yes Noch we're talking about you haha

  • @4468 Yeah they have 2 versions, both work well and it is the second one that I used.

  • i have a air deoinizer that plugs into the wall upon breaking it open there are 4 wires 2 input ones and 2 output if i conect a input to input will the output create static charges

  • @pyronathanpyro I have no idea, I used a purpose built negative ion generator that has different wiring.

  • @EverardJunction okay im going to look in the cheep shops for a electric fly swatter

  • Very clever!

  • @BMR5ify Thanks

  • Very impressive - Well done, I have been thinking of making one of these applicators myself as you say the puffer bottle is really not that good but does get a good base coat of grass down but it is no good for out on the track side.

Nice to see progress on Everard Junction

    ATB Steve

  • @XKSteve Thanks mate

  • at 1:01 i wish there was a 20 in mt front garden and a 37 in the yard :D

  • @hintonrailways There is, the 37 is a broken vitrains model which was used for weathering practice. The 20 is an old non DCC ready bachmann model thats the wrong period.

  • Very impressed , glad you took matters into your own hands £100 is far to much the grass looks great .

  • @REGWARNE12 Thanks, I couldn't believe it when I looked at the prices for the grassmaster

  • Very impresssive i see your getting the rest of terrain done. Btw did PC world say no? lols =P

  • @Nike427 Hi harry, I didn't bother with pc world. I got a job a mirus IT in milton keynes as a hardware technician instead, I think I start there in about a week. Have you had any luck with jobs?

  • @EverardJunction Well interestingly i might have a job interview with Node4 in northampton next week or so as they liked my application and the people they hired to look at aplications and choose the ones they like best sent them mine after i got email saying they compared mine to others and where very impressed. Oh btw i might start putting up videos of my new Praying matnis. George got me into them lol xD

  • @Nike427 Cool, good luck in the interview.

  • Awesome! This will be extremely usefull!

  • @2009Buzza Thanks

  • That makes the grass look so much more real, great video!

  • @TheScotlandroo Thanks mate

  • is the grass you used out of the garden? if so, how did you get it so small?

  • @zaccee1996 The grass is the same stuff that was used in the gardens. It is 3mm long fibers that I bought in bags. the company that makes it is called Jarvis.

  • If you brush over the top of them do they spring back up?

  • @OOTrainsandModels Once the glue is dry the grass will spring back up, if you touch it a lot it will eventually go flat.

  • looks really good i might do that on parts of my layout

  • @jaannetts16 Thanks, i was amazed at how effective it is.

  • very impressive mate.it does look so much better than the puffer bottle like i have.you have done a good job of building it aswell.how much did it cost you to build in total as im now going to build one now i know it can be done.also does the nail have to be put close to where you applying the static grass or can it be put anywhere on the board???

  • @bloodmarine77 Thanks, mine cost about £20. The ion generator is only available from Oatley Electronics in Australia. The nail can be placed anywhere on the board as long as it is in contact with the glue, otherwise it wont work.

  • @EverardJunction ive just looked on thier website and i think they have sold out.i wos looking at the negative ion generator module (ionb on the list costs $12) is this the right one?

  • @bloodmarine77 If you go to oatleys home page and type ion generator into the search product catalogue box on the left, you should see two negative ion generators appear. The one I used costs $14 and is the second one down which is currently in stock.

  • wow im making one hehe ive sseen these before but never been able to get hold of a ion genarator or a fly swatter ill look round for a fly swatter and let ya know how it goes thx

  • @pyronathanpyro Thanks, it would be interesting to see how the two methods compare.
