Nothing is spared. Everything vilified, dragged through the mud. Slandered. Everything pure, every emotion sacred was spit upon....until every definition of right and wrong reduced to the technical babble of lawyers and liberal thrash.
Yep, today its about lawyers and bleeding hearts and not real men doing what needs to be done. If left to the Tom Cruise type characters we'd be fodder for the rest of the world. This movie is certainly indicitive of whats wrong with the world today.
After all, law is a joke and has nothing to do with truth and more to do with opinion.
Best court room scene I think that has ever been made, all actors in it are sensational! Im not much of a Tom Cruise fan either, but give credit where it's due.
We want to be protected, but we don't want to think about the nasty things that have to happen sometimes in order to ensure that protection. We're hypocrites, a crime worse than murder in the eyes of God. God bless the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. The majority of their good members, anyway.
If a Marine IS substandard, his fellows WILL make it clear to him through a variety of avenues and expressions. They're like wasps in human form, and there's nothing wrong with that. We need them to be like that.
@buzzclick500 Marines are supposed to protect people. By doing what you're suggesting, they are acting in the exact opposite way. They need to protect a substandard Marine by ensuring his safety until he is removed from the Corps. Anything less, and well, you'd be a terrible Marine.
@jbharix : On a gentler note, Marine recruit training should "weed out" potentially substandard recruits long before graduation from boot camp. They haven't been doing that since the 1970s. I know Marines(there ARE no "'ex' -Marines")who fought in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam--they're fairly disgusted with some of what's being turned out now.
In real life, the colonel would made it to the Navy attorney and done some damage, before being hauled down to the floor (by most of the people in the room)and either beaned or shot. Hollywood avoids the realities of life, partly because the entertainment(the drama)is essential to keeping the viewer's attention for a certain length of time.
I'm a lawyer and an officer in the United States Navy, and your under arrest you son of a bitch. DRAMATIC! Only Cruise and Nicholson could have pulled this scene off.
If the Marine's back in the 90s really thought they were in danger in Cuba, well lets just say they're jarheads then. I don't a think a single person was killed in Getmo; except for Private Santiago lol. I WANT THE TRUTH.....YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
It's shit like this that you rarely, if ever, see today. Great acting with a great story. Now a days they make movies on anything that could make a few bucks, and they use sub-standard actors and actresses and call it a movie.
this is the best intollectual movie there ever was, it really has no action, but it is still a great movie, that proves how good the actors are and the directors. nicholson and cruise were fantastic
@nazgulero Marine Corps is Department of Navy (; Secretary of Navy is between Marine's Commanding General and Secretary of Defense. All Navy Corpsman are medics for the Marine Corps, all service and support comes from the Navy. Marine Corps is Naval infantry. Officers come from the US Naval Academy and N.ROTC. Brothers in arms (: Marines just carry a certain swagger from choosing the intense training/lifestyle of infantry
@tenaciousd1888 Yeah, I know his career didn't really went downhill after Batman, but that's what I heard. His performance in A Few Good Men is one of his best in his career don't get me wrong. So blame the people who actually said this; not me.

And up to this day we are being force fed nonsense like Gaga and Bieber
when the world is much different in actuality.
