My theory is that Manson must be one of BO's heros, as he appears to be bent on Helter Skelter himself. I've also thought a lot lately about rereading (again) Walker Percy's LOVE IN THE RUINS. Once the mystery thesis is uncovered, something tells me it'll have elements of all those influences. Hey, it's a plan.
