Not sure if you understand what's happening here, but what you see being dumped is slag. Slag is unwanted products that are collected or skimmed off the tops of ponds of searing molten metal during the nickel manufacturing process. Slag is dumped into holding areas like this one, but slag can ultimately be collected and reused for other industry applications. Watch other videos about steel manufacture and other metals like nickel. Fascinating stuff!
