Francesco Barsanti (b. ca1690) - Sonata in C-Major

This is an exceedingly pleasant surprise- as although the music of Barsanti is quite chipper and playful, the treatment it usually gets is stoic, solid, & stately... all of which inclines one to snooze. Not this performance however- particularly in the prelude, as the recorder player has a concept of what he is to express before he begins to blow, and then sublimely assured about his aesthetics, he blows with a spontaneity of timing that puts it across delightfully fresh and playful. Bravo!
