The line was pretty much in a full "dress rehersal" mode where there was a full force of trains out on the line. In order to maintain headway and prevent issues (as well as test out everything), it was necessary to maintain the dwell at stops. The doors did not open. (Interestingly enough, this practice did cause customer confusion as some thought the system was running in revenue service.)
As mentioned, there was no sound on the video. I muted it because there were many people on board since it was a preview demo ride. It would have been inappropriate to include those recorded conversations in a public video. Most of which was just trivial. The only thing of note was that in demo mode, the station announcements were different (male voice). If I can pull those announcements, I may post them somewhere.
I noticed at the very outset of the video, a delivery truck turned onto the tracks, and went straight down them to his turn. I wondered if that was allowed, but then I see the signs posted along the way warning drivers not to drive on the tracks.
Is the line successful? I've only been to Phoenix once, quite a few years ago, and I know the traffic can be very heavy. Hopefully there will be plenty of riders.
In that case it is, there is a frontage road to the left side of the tracks so vehicles can access some of the buildings in that area. There's a couple of quirks like that on the line.
The line has been getting much higher than anticipated ridership. It's a great system. I just wish it was not speed limited to 35 MPH (because there's no gated crossings)
An 3 mile expansion at the west end of the line is beginning construction.
Why does the train stop at the stations if it wasn't open to the public yet?

BTW - is there not supposed to be sound on this thing?

It says in the video and on the description that there is no audio. Too many irrelevant conversations taking place.

Hi Michelle!
